take a look here at my story #12 http://www.livinginindonesiaforum.or...33334-overstay
in my point of view you should listen to your Embassy. Make a copy of your passport and save it in your pocket. Most depends on your nationality....
If your wife is indonesian you can fix the problem because she can sign up a document to declare that you are under her responability (during your stay/overstay in Indonesia).
Never get upset, angry or loose the selfcontrol. Neither if you are right and they wrong. Dont worry....they can help you to fix everything. Just need time, money and luck.

(1) Some people get confused with the Visa expiry date , which is 90 days from the Visa issuance . No matter what a Visa states , the important thing to check is the "Stay Permit" stamped when you entered Indonesia . In this stamp it is written how many days one is allowed to stay . Unfortunately some stamps are very difficult to read .
Note : A Visa expires in 90 days or when it is used . When its holder uses the Visa to enter Indonesia , he/she gets a "Stay Permit" (it is not a Visa anymore , although we usually continue to call it a Visa) .
(2) You just need to pay the fine (Rp300'000 per day) , but I think it will be for 9 days .
(3) Theoretically one can extend it up to the last working day before the expiry date .
--------------------
As WM said above , it may be a better idea to pay the ticket date change fee instead of the fine (9 days fine = Rp2'700'000) .

Some overall information on overstaying your visa - http://www.expat.or.id/info/overstayingyourvisa.html
If it were me, I'd change my reservation and leave in time!
Good luck!

Visa overstay 8 days
Hello Im on a sosbud and my mistake for assuming that expiry date of aug 25 was the date that i had to leave or renew before. i came on may 23rd on thought i got added days or the embassy put the wrong date. just found out tgat it was 60 days from the May 23rd date. it will be about 8 days for an overstay. Ive booked a flight for 30th of jul to leave well before i realized. Can i just pay the fine and be done with it at the airport or will i be detained? I will be leaving from Juanda. anyone has experiences there? aee they bribable for half the amount?Last edited by sandman86; 22-07-16, 00:54.
