I did read a couple post about alih status but seems that its more traveling here and there to the KanIm, KanWil, DitJenIm, Kanwil, KanIm (if I'm not reading the flow it incorrectly), if compared with doing the EPO and then apply for VITAS sponsored by spouse, johntap.

    hoping for more advices

    • Hi Shanty

You can do a change of sponsor (ahli sponsor) without leaving the country.
It's what I'm proceSsing right now.

Go see my tread about "kitas company sponsored to kitas spouse sponsored to kitap"
You will find all the necessary link and information.
You will also find the detail of my process... I will keep writing until I reach the kitap

          • So far the more troublesome was to fill the 2-3 page at the imigrasi and supply the documentation. But you will need to do the same with an EPO.

The rest was a matter of waiting a call, pick up an envlop and bring or send the envlop to the next. Nothing complicate!

            • Nasi Posse, you might be at cross-purposes with the Petugas at Kantor Immigration.

I submitted my Kitap application in less than one month expiry of my second Kitas and I signed a disclaimer for the record to allay the concerns of the Immigration Office in the event of the application not being successful within the time restraints.

I must admit I thought the six month Kitas had been scrapped but I do not know where I saw it.

At least, start the Kitas application, then almost immediately if not simultaneously do the Kitap. For the sake of 700,000rp, it is surely not worth running the gauntlet of losing your Kitas altogether in the circumstances.

              • Good advice Mr C. I can tell you that it looks like my KITAP is going to take about 6 weeks all up. Dir Jen step will take 10 work days alone. I live in Jakarta.

                  (1) This is the second best option , if you don't want to use an agent .

                  (2) This is also an option , the one that is normally suggested by agents , the worst option in my opinion . But if you want to hire an agent , this is what they know how to do it .

                  (3) Just to clarify :
                  - Telex VISA / KITAS (or simply telex Visa) is a "pre-approval" for a VITAS (Visa for a KITAS) usually called Limited Stay Visa , issued by Jakarta's Immigration Directorate General ,

                  - EPO (Exit Permit Only) is a permit one gets when canceling a KITAS (or KITAP) , and is issued by the Kantor Imigrasi in the Indonesian city where you live .

                  (4) In case you want to do it by yourself (or if you are luck in finding an agent who agrees to do it for you) , the best option is to do 2 process simultaneously : change sponsor + extend the KITAS (see example below) . This way the KITAS holder doesn't need to leave Indonesia .

Yesterday I met with an assistant to the Kepala Kantor Imigrasi (His office was on the same floor as the KaKanIm, so I assume he pulls rank over the petugas Ive been dealing with). He said in order to apply for the KITAP, I must have at least 30 days before the expiry of my visa. He also said that non-electronic visas are no longer available at KanIm Jakarta Utara because they are part of a flagship project to phase out non-electronic documents. So disregard the KaniIm JakUt website that displays non-electronic options on their price list, and also disregard the sign in the kantor imigrasi JakUt that lists non-electronic options as well. Oh, and make sure you also disregard the official plaque sitting on the counter where you hand in your applications that says you must apply for your ITK, KITAS, and KITAP extensions one month before the expiration date, because now you can apply for those one day before your visa expires (Thanks Marcus for bringing that to my attention). As far as Alih status, there doesn't seem to be any mention in the latest laws that you may apply for it one day before expiry of current visa, so I guess it is up to the KanIm to decide on that.

I must admit I didn't know if a 6 month KITAS was available when I first asked him about it, but since this is his profession I would expect him to know these things.

                    • Funny. There is no way they will let you start your KITAS extension or KITAP application one day before your KITAS ends. (Unless you pay.) Wave with any law text you like...

                      • The law below says that you can apply for a KITAS extension as early as 3 months and as late as one work day before your current visa expires. They cant say no to that law. Like you, even when I showed the law that entitles me to a 6 month KITAS, the petugas would not back down until I requested to speak with his Kepala Seksi (Kasi). Then he made me wait about twenty minutes while he met with his boss (which I have a feeling he didn't really do) and when I approached him again he said that I could have the 6 month extension.

Peraturan menteri hukum dan Hak asasi manusia Republik Indonesia Nomor 27 tahun 2014

                        Pasal 35 ayat 2

for the option No.4, change sponsor + extend the KITAS, is there a time frame / the latest time to do this before the KITAS expires ?

KITAS is expiring at 10th of July and we're still expecting the new Kartu keluarga done on June 8th (as what they inform me) from Capil since we just moved to BSD.

So , as MrCibubur applied with less than one month , you still could check further at Kantor Wilayah or even at the Immigration Directorate General .

Just start the process, at the best they will not ask you for the document, at the worse they will ask you... And they will wait for it.

At least the process of the visa will be started.
