• Oh by the way, was there any time limit at all for getting this SKTT? Do we have to apply it asap after we get the KITAS card? I read online (but not sure if it's a reliable source) that we're given 2 weeks to get the SKTT since the KITAS was issued?

I'm going to bring all the same documents like when I applied KITAS, but just to make sure if they want us to present some surat like:
Surat Jalan, Surat Domisili, or Surat Pengantar from RT/RW?

Or it's pretty straightforward? Go there, ask for SKTT and give them the copies of:

- KTP, KK, Marriage Cert
- WNA Passport, ITAS card, MERP Stamp

Gonna try my luck to go to Capil on Friday morning.

• Supposed is within one month after issued the KITAS/KITAP if not wrong. But never hear any of my friends got fined due to late submit. Some of them late for 2 months, 4 months. and some friend's KITAS are handle by agent, been many years but never apply SKTT.

For documents needed to bring, please see the post from above #1362 some of us had been mentioned early today.

BTW, if you go on Friday, go earlier. coz in my place every time myself or my friends went there on Friday, after 10:30am-11:00am The person handle SKTT and KTP WNA are not around. You know what I means...

• jstar, I went to Sudin Dukcapil at Jl. Berdikari no 2 next to the Polres, the guy Pak Sukma told me I have to go to KanIm Tanjung Priuk right behind the Polres to make the SKTT. I made sure to him that I was asked to go to CaPil and he said no for WNA SKTT have to go to "the other" KanIm. I went ahead to the Tj Priuk KanIm and I was helped by Pak Anjar, and he told me the same thing that for WNA have to do it in KanIm Priuk. But he also mentioned that I have another option of going to the Main Office CaPil in JakBar. What the heck.

I am not sure which one is correct either way he took my request for the SKTT and will call me once it's done which according to him is in a week. Then he asked me to get STM.
I finally went to Polres since I was in the area and I asked for STM to prevent sh*t from happening in the furure.

That's probably TOO early, Cyn. They have standard (mandatory?) taiso exercise at civil service offices at 8 am on Fridays, so give them an hour to do it, cool down, have a snack, change clothing. The window is probably 9 to 10 on Fridays, though nowadays there are at least a few diligent people in most offices who will work after lunch on Friday (e.g., visa or passport pickup time).

• I just got my most recent Kitas here in Bandung. It's a paper one, unlike the last one. Does everyone here just get it laminated, after making the obligatory 500 copies?

<off topic> Has anyone else been having problems logging in? I haven't been able to log in for a day or so. Had to use a proxy to log in today.

(1) I never laminated it (I had 3 in the past) . I thought it is not necessary because I always kept them at home .

(2) I am not logging in frequently lately , but no problem up to now .

I couldn't bring the forum up in BDO. Finally used a US proxy, and it was fine. Now working in Jakarta, too.

• I went back to KanIm today to get the SKTT. and was given both SKTT (that looked like Indonesian KTP but in green color) and a SKSKPS. Then continued to Polres to get the STM, dude was asking for admin fee aka uang rokok.

Thanks a lot everyone for helping, I am glad that this is over

• That dark green is tough to photocopy with any clarity in the result. Try scanning it and printing in color if you need a copy of it. It's never really "over" unless you become a citizen. However, there can be long gaps between appearing at KanIm or other government offices!

• Last month I sent the documents to Jakarta for the Kitas sponsored by my wife. On the 6th January, I went to Imigrasi in Makassar to ask if it is accepted by Jakarta and the answer is YES. But the computer system is down. After one week, today this morning, I inquired again and still down (technical problem). This afternoon, I get a call that it works again and I can do the picture and fingerprints. After more problems with the computer unable to process the picture, I signed the paper card for the Kitas. Tomorrow, I will be able to collect it. Just to confirm that I did not need to go to Jakarta. Then I asked about the Kitap, and was told that I need to wait 2 years kitas or the 3rd kitas to request the Kitap. I read that we can process to the Kitap as soon as we have 2 years marriage and a Kitas.

It sounds like some Imigrasi staff are still getting confused over the KITAP. I do wish they would sort this out and make all staff understand the job and the law, as it makes it very frustrating for all of us.

The law states that you are eligible for a KITAP if you have a KITAS and have been married for 2 years. I do not know where some staff are getting the idea in their heads that it is anything other than this. Sounds like a serious lack of communication between departments. I suppose they are assuming that a foreign spouse is applying for his first KITAS at the same time as the marriage, which would mean that the spouse would already be on their second KITAS when they come to apply for the KITAP.

I am currently in the process of applying for my first KITAS (Sosbud conversion to KITAS). I will be applying for my KITAP in April this year (reaching 2 years of marriage in March). I will of course be taking a copy of the law in with me to assist the officers in Imigrasi.

Congratulations on getting your KITAS, and good to know you did not have to go to Jakarta at all, saves time and money on flights there. Hopefully this will become more common. They just need to sort out communication and using phones to sort out problems. Sounds like Makassar are one of the few that can use a phone.

• Sosbud to Kitas

I got my Kitas today. The Imigrasi kantor was full, busy and the bosses had meetings. Therefore, I had to come back in the afternoon. Friendly staff, communicative...

I am really happy that I did not need to fly to Jakarta, as it saved me money and time. The staff here can check if Jakarta approves or not the requests, no need to call for them.

Now, I am set till the end of the year, and later, I will see for the Kitas to Kitap conversion. I also got the MERP (automatic) and it seems that they changed the format of the stamp. I hope they did give me the correct one. Good luck to you too.

Tokek answered this nicely. I'm surprised that Bali is still using this confused logic -- that was the stance in Solo in 2011 when the law first was passed, but they cleared their heads within a year or so.
