  • Today, I have submitted all the documents needed and fill up the Perdim 23 form (free of charge).
I was given Tanda Terima Permohonan and expected to be back on the 26th of Nov. I thought the process will only take 2-4 days?

In between those time, he said that there will be immigration officials going to our house to check up on us. And was asked to present the Certificate of No Impediment that we used for the wedding as well as PM1 from Kelurahan.

Anybody has ever been asked to present this PM1 Letter from Kelurahan? I am confused because right now I am requesting this letter and is asked to pay 1,5 Juta by the Kelurahan. Please help!

    Thanks

Why would a KITAS for a teacher take any longer then for anyone else? Is not your school taking care of your KITAS and work permit?

Yes i have been waiting over 2 months for my kitas..already took fingerprints and photo. I dont know if it the agent or the school.

I never heard of Immigration asking for PM1 . By courtesy you should tell us what PM1 is , as I told you before to ask Kantor Imigrasi about each/every document requested .

Regardless of which document , of course Rp1.5 million is absurd . All documents I requested at my Kantor Kelurahan didn't have any fee , I just gave them a tip .

Usually when Kantor Imigrasi asks the foreigner to come there for (digital) fingerprints and photo , it means that the KITAS process practically finished , one needs to wait just some 4 working days for them to make the ITAS card .

So I suppose your employer already received your KITAS & passport from Kantor Imigrasi .

          • So basically I asked the lady at the immigration what is PM1 and she wasnt being very helpful, she said "orang kelurahan sudah tau apa itu PM1" then I searched on the net about it but there was not much. My understanding is that PM1 is Surat Pengantar. I spoke to the Kelurahan people they said it's a letter to clarify that I am a resident of such area like on my KTP and that it is true I am married to WNA who's living under one roof. I will attached the letter when I got it.

Marcus, were you asked to schedule an appointment with immigration officer so that they can check up on you at your address?

              (1) My Kantor Imigrasi gave me a sample letter . It was for the "Surat Keterangan Domisili" (not PM1) , just stating the foreigner residence address , and to be signed by Kelurahan and Kecamatan (for it I first had to get a statement from RT/RW) .

              (2) No . They asked me to come to Kantor Imigrasi , some days later , with my wife , for an interview . No visit to our home (but home visit is something that also happened to others) .

I know , you said that before . I meant that your agent/employer may be retaining it .

Anyway , I would be very worried to stay without the passport for so long (you said more than 2 months after the fingerprints taken ?) . I would go to the Kantor Imigrasi and ask . If the KITAS was really not issued , they can explain why (at the fingerprints phase , the KITAS was already approved by Jakarta's Directorate General , and so officially valid already) . I also would ask what you do if you need , in an emergency , to travel abroad , for example .

                  • Hi everyone,

my wife kitas is expired next january and id like to start the renewal process early december. Is the buku POA still needed as one of the required documents for KITAS renewal because i think i saw around february that immigration no longer issue that blue POA book.

                    TIA.

Needed or not , if you have the POA book , better bring it to Kantor Imigrasi when you go there for the request application . As a general rule , better bring every document/document copies you have at home . Sometimes they require an unusual thing that we didn't predict .

KanIm requested my blue book when I applied for a KITAP a couple of months ago. They returned it and specifically told me to keep it for future interactions with Kanim.

                        • Hey Marcus,

This is the sample of Surat PM1 from Kelurahan. Is this the same with Surat Domisili? Thanks

                          • No . Surat Domisili is only about one's residence address .

Anyway , if this is what your Kantor Imigrasi requested , better do what they want .

As I told you before , when Kantor Imigrasi take the foreigner's digital photo/fingerprints is because the KITAS' process is almost complete .

And usually Immigration retain the foreigner's passport since they accept the request until the end of the process .

So , something is missing in your story . Please tell us everything since the beginning :
                                (a) Did you get a VITAS (Visa for a KITAS) ? If not , which is your present Visa ?
                                (b) Did you go personally to Kantor Imigrasi for the photo/fingerprints ?
                                (c) When your school said they would apply for the KITAS , did you give your passport to them ? If so , when did they return the passport to you ?
