You are basically right FP. In an ideal world all what you advise would happen. But some good teachers are caught up. I don't know how many. Remember these rule changes only happened about 3 years ago and may be amended again in the future. The tighter rules are leading to a spate of fake degrees being presented. I have observed this. Generally, I am not suggesting things here, I am trying to tell it as it is. See my new post in my new thread when I get it up. Thanks.

KITAS sponsored by the Indonesian spouse

Yes, this thread should be reserved for the purposes it was intended for. Not for suggesting regulations be ignored for those that placed themselves in the rocking boat. I think many of the rules you speak of have been around for quite some time and the fact is that those rules are now being more enforced. So, really there are no excuses but I guess that if whining makes them feel better, so be it.Some love to milk Apostate.

Why would a KITAS for a teacher take any longer then for anyone else? Is not your school taking care of your KITAS and work permit?Last edited by bronze7; 24-10-14, 07:58.

Hello everyone!
I need help to clarify some questions before I go to Immigration to request for the conversion of SoSbud to Kitas.
A little bit about me: I have been married to a Canadian for 14 months now and we have decided to settle here in Jakarta for a while and I would like to get him Kitas .
I have read the first post by atlantis about what we need to bring but which local KanIm should I go to?
1. I have KTP issued in Jakarta Utara, does that mean I have to go to KanIm in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta Utara? or I can go to any ?
2. I will need to bring bank statement, what would be the adequate amount to sponsor?
3. Some people say need to have letter of no impediment issued by the WNA consulate as a proof that we are still married? Is this necessary?
4. I have received information from different sources that Sosbud Visa cannot be converted to ITAS without leaving the country? But I read again in this forum that some have done it.
5. Do I also submit:
- surat pernyataan & jaminan dari sponsor WNI
- surat permohonan alih status dari sponsor WNI
- pas foto WNA with red background 4x6 and 3x4 (3 pcs each)
Thank you in advance, answering this questions will really help me to be better prepared. Much appreciated!Last edited by cynthiag; 09-11-14, 18:55.

1. You cannot choose . You have to go to the one which covers your address in your KTP ( I don't know if it is the one at Kelapa Gading) .
And your address in your KTP should be the address where you really live .
2. It is not normally requested . But if requested , a bank statement of some Rp30 millions may be enough (your account or your husband account , account balance or investment) .
3. They are 2 different documents : Letter of "No Impediment to Marry" (used for the marriage) and Letter stating you are still married (that , in my case was issued by KUA , where I married) . If you will need one of these or both , only your Kantor Imigrasi can tell .
You better go to your designated Kantor Imigrasi and ask for the list of the required documents (each office may have a little different list) + forms (for konversi Izin Kunjungan ke ITAS) + folder . And check if you understood exactly what are required + ask for sample of the required letters .
4. It is allowed by Law & Regulation , and many Forum members (including me) did that .
But I guess many agents don't know about that .
5. Normally yes , except the photos that may not be required anymore (forgot about) . Anyway , by getting the list of the required documents (I mentioned above) , you will know .
The "Surat Pernyataan & Jaminan" is in the form's package , and the "Surat Permohonan alih status dari sponsor WNI" is what we usually call "sponsor's letter" .Last edited by marcus; 11-11-14, 08:07.

Specifically about the marriage , Immigration MAY ask :
- "No Impediment to Marry" letter from the foreigner's Embassy , that you used to marry in Indonesia , or equivalent (frequently requested for new marriages) , AND/OR
- Letter from the marriage office (KUA , or Catatan Sipil , or Embassy , or ..) stating that you are still married now (this is frequently requested) , AND/OR
- Letter from the foreigner Embassy stating the marriage certificate was registered there (or equivalent) , if the marriage was not in his/her country (this is not requested frequently) .

You have posted exactly the same thing in the other thread , 2 days ago . Related to it , I have already posted 2 answers (after you have posted another related question) , so I cannot understand why you are doing this .Last edited by marcus; 11-11-14, 07:43.
