• KITAS renewal

Hello Everyone,
If it seems like I am selfishly seeking answers without putting much efforts, I apologize,
maybe I am not good at forums (first time posting in one). I seem to have a hard time finding step by step or detailed list of things I will need or need to do in order to renew my KITAS.
I have an Indonesian wife sponsored KITAS and MERP for 1 year which is expiring on Nov 11th 2014.
The last agent I used to get my KITAS issued for the first time charged us for about 15 juta back then.
My wife is originally from Surabaya and her KTP is from there. She was working in Jakarta and we were able to get all required documents and domicili back then.
We were in a rush back then and needed to get it within 2-3 weeks and it was done.
Since then we are both out of the country and are thinking of coming back to Indonesia for extending or renewing my KITAS. We asked the same agent and he said it will be 12 Juta.

Now we are thinking of doing it ourselves or an agent that doesnt charge so much.
We only have a few problem/ question?
Since we are no longer living in Jakarta but my previous KITAS was issued in Jakarta and everything was done in Jakarta, will there be any problem?
From what I read on this forum so far, I need to start applying or get new KITAS issued 30 days before? Is it too late now?
If needed, I can go to Jakarta on the 6th and get everything started by 7th of Oct 2014 which is in 4 days. Is it possible?

I sincerely thank any of you that could help me or guide me in this matter. Thank you very much for your time and attention.

(1) I think you can find an agent charging around Rp6.5 million ($ 4.7 for the KITAS + $1.8 for the MERP) . Doing yourself will cost Rp800k or Rp1 million (for paper or plastic KITAS) + Rp1 million for the VITAS .

(2) In relation to address , if her KTP is from Surabaya , your KITAS should be issued in Surabaya . I don't know why you got the KITAS issued in Jakarta .
So , now for the extension , if something wrong was done before , it can be a problem .

In normal KITAS extension process , 2 (or 3) required documents state your address and so define where your KITAS extension is to be requested : KTP & KK (and maybe , a "Surat Keterangan Domisili"/Residency Address Statement) . And also immigration may visit your home and talk to you two .

(3) Normally you should apply for the extension at least 30 days before the KITAS expires . So it is possible .

Note 1 : Extending a KITAS is similar to doing the original KITAS . It is easier because the Jakarta's Immigration Directorate is not involved .
Note 2 : There may be a (slight) different list of required documents , dependent on the city where you apply .

• OK, everything in Bandar Lampung has gone amazingly well in dealing with Immigration and the Lurah. Now, along comes the Catatan Sipli. Went in to get the new Daftaran Orang Asing (SKTT, SKPPS, and SKDLN)
In Jakarta I receives a nice card (Temporary Residential Card) and a SKSKPS document (Surat Keterangan Susuan Kelluarga Penduk Sementara) to go along with it. Turned in everything they required for the new card and document. Wife went in this morning and they suddenly decided they should process it and ask her to come back in the afternood. She returned and the hassle started. First off, the forms submitted had my last name forst and then fist and middle names. Immigration put them in that order. Catatan Sipli said no good. Must be first, middle, and then last name. My wife stood her ground and told them that Immigration would not take it well if they are being told they don't know how to do things right. They decided OK, no big deal. Then they questioned the address and again my wife had to stand her ground and insisted that it was correct and if they would like to see our lease or visit the address they may. Since we receive mail there it must be good. OK, they said no big deal. They then handed my wife a document. Surat Kenterangan Tempat Tinggal. The Temporary Residental Card as stated on the document. My wife asked about the actual card and was told they don't do that here. OK, take the document.

My card from Jakarta had an Identity Number for Residence on it. a 16 digit number. Here, there is no section on the SKTT document that gives an entry for Identity Number for Residence. There is however at the top under the SKTT heading a listing for Nomor. This is a short number followed by a hash then roman numeral IV.29 followed by a hash, then 2014. Is this my new number? I need to know the number for the new SIM. Is this correct or am I missing a number?

• Can't answer about numbers but the "hassle" you describe sounds like their nervousness, so just be cool and help them be their Indonesian selves that recognize flexibility. I detailed something similar in a post about SKTT a couple months ago.

"Where's the police report?" --> don't have it, "OK"
"Where's the asli surat domisili from lurah?" --> I think Kan Im kept it, "OK"

Then they got a little flustered and realized I should get SKTT not KTP, because it was only an ITAS. My wife and I just sat there calmly, dealing with whoever came out of the inner office. It was only a matter of time and patience.

• They insisted they keep the original of the asli surat domisili but I guess it doesn't matter although it is the first time I gave up an original anything. I have good copies just in case. Never asked for the Police report but i was ready if they did. Just wondering about that number. Don't want a SIM hassle.

• Here is another question besides the number on the SKTT.
Should I think there will be any problems with anyone since my KITAS has no entries behind
Occupation
Address
Sponsor.

All blank. It is a paper one. They run out of cards.

• I also have paper KITAS. Nobody made an excuse about "habis".

Occupation is blank, as it should be according to Kan Im Solo "Otherwise someone might think you need a work sponsorship instead of a spouse sponsorship" -- but as noted by me and others in various threads, they then ok various types of informal work as acceptable. Just don't write "consultant" or whatever as your occupation.

How could sponsor be blank? That seems like an oversight to me.

Yes, what is up with that? I was wondering about the exact same thing. Got my Kitap last week and instead of receiving something more permanent looking all I got was a paper card with no entries on the above mentioned field. After all the troubles getting letters from RT, Lurah, etc to verified my residential address and all I got was blank on the actual Kitap.

I don't know. Especially now that there is no blue book.

• Hi everyone, firstly I would like to say how grateful I am for this forum, especially this thread. So much useful information in it and I am amazed at the knowledge displayed by Atlantis and Marcus.

I have read through the whole thread and will be converting my SosBud to a ITAS, this is my progress so far.

Yesterday my wife and I arrived at KanIm Tanjung Perak and although we were to late to hand in our documents, I was pleased to see how helpful the staff are.

The immigration officer said no problem about converting to ITAS but told us we would have to come back earlier next time. However what impressed me was he still made the effort to go through all my documents and make sure everything was ok. He pointed out a couple of improvements to the sponsor letter which I will be making today, and also told us which forms we needed and gave us a nice folder. There were 5 forms which I will list in case anyone wants to know the numbers and names:

23 - Fomulir Perpanjangan Atau Konversi Izin Kunjungan
24 - Formulir Izin Tingal Terbatas Dan Tetap
25 - Formulir Izin Masuk Kembali Dan Pemulangan
26 - Formulir Pendaftaran Orang Asing
27 - Formulir Perubahan Data Orang Asing

Does this sound right? I realise the process gradually changes over time.
I noticed that form 25 is included for the MERP, sounds like we get to apply for this at the same time which would make things a little easier.
I would also like to add that in the forms there is no mention of my wifes job or income, and no bank statement is asked for. I filled the part for my job in UK as simply swasta but left the office address blank as I am not employed.

We will be going back to KanIm tomorrow to hand in everything but so far the process seems straightforward. Once again would like to thank everyone for all this information on documents etc. It has made everything so much easier.
I will update on my process as it goes on.

• Depend on the city, in our area MERP also handle by the same officer in immigration. The form also submitted at the same time and MERP issued/stamped together with ITAS. Bank statement are seem loosen and not being asked, as six couples of my friends applied in the past 2-3 years period.

(1) It seems right .

(2) I think you don't need to apply for the MERP , it is optional .

As Aris@Batam said above , his Kantor Imigrasi did the same , but when I got my KITAP almost 2 years ago , I didn't get form 25 for MERP and I chose not to get a MERP yet .

(3) I think this refers to job in Indonesia (probably for "work" KITAS) . I filled with : "tidak ada" (no job) , and left office address blank .

• I was specifically advised to leave occupation blank. And I also left office address blank, either from advice at Kan Im directly or from the Consulate in NYC when I filled out the forms for VITAS last May.

• your passport validity till May 2016 should be good enough, still have 17 months. One of my Singaporean friend when he apply for convent to KITAP two year ago, his passport only validity for another 12 months.
