  • Everything still going as planned for my KITAS. Still doing it on our own. Right now DitJenIm has the application and at the end of next week will pick it all up. So far everything has been done on the expected schedule and everyone has been more then friendly. At every stop I have received a mobile phone number to check via SMS the day prior to the informed pick up date. Jakarta Selatan Immigration, Kantor Wilaya, and DitJenIm all gave me numbers and said they were personal phones so just SMS for information.

I seen one Bule offer a Immigration officer some money for his help. It was refused on the spot. Makes me wonder if the Agents are also changing to no coffee money and the clients by continuing to pay their fees are just getting ripped off more. Glad it's not me.

Pick up next week from DitJenIm and return the approval letter from them to the Kantor Wilaya. Hoping I get the letter from them the same day I present the letter from the DitJenIm. Then back to Jakarta Selatan Immigration to wrap up my KITAS part.

So far, Rp460,000 in taxis and a few copies. 6 hours of time invested and most of that was in taxis. Time in the actual offices has been about 35 minutes.

At what point of this journey will someone do the home check?

      (a) I think lately Kantor Wilayah just take the letter from Direktorat Jenderal and thats it , they do no issue any other letter .

      (b) From what I understand , the home check (when a Surat Keterangan Domisili is not requested) is done at the beginning , before Kantor Imigrasi release the letters to Kantor Wilayah and Direktorat Jenderal . If they didn't check yet , I suppose they will not do it anymore .

        a) that will speed things along.

        b) The lady at DitJenIm asked me if anyone visited me but then looked through mt paperwork and seen a hand written interview and said all was OK. So wasn't sure if this was something I would still have. I'm good if they don't.

Thanks Marcus. Everyone from any of my contacts at Immigration has been very helpful, polite, and friendly. I should be an agent it is so easy. No, I'll leave that to others to rip off those that are unable or unwilling to do this on their own. Met a guy going from KITAS to KITAP sponsored by Indonesian wife. Ex US Embassy worker from the 90s. Told me his agent wanted Rp30juta to do a KITAP. Doing it on his own now and says it has been going really smooth so far.

        • Hi All,
I have lastly receive my Kitas and the blue book last Monday. The Jakarta office did not sms and it is hard to get hold the number given by the lady. Finally I went down from home at Cipanas to Jakarta and luckily the document was ready. The day itself I went back to Sukabumi and the Pak Adit was helpfull enought to help to process the document. Now after getting the Kitas I have to go to Polres at Cianjur(here the ask for cofee money to help on all process done for a fee which I decline. So this coming Friday I will collect my STM and need to go to Polda at Bandung for SKLD(need to copy passport, the KITAS and the blue book 2set and 6 pc of 2x3 & 4x6 foto, one for Polres and Polda. AT Polres need to fill in the 2 set of the same card for finger print. 1 set need to bring to Polda together with the previous photocopy and foto).
Any advice how to deal with them to get the STM adn SKLD with out paying coffee money and with out offend them?

MERP is something on top of the KITAS. It is no visa but a permit (izin) as well. You will also probably read about the single exit/re-entry, a SERP.
There will be a blue chop indicate "Multiple Re-Entry Permit"(MERP) with expire date and start date sign and the officer signature and badge number of the officer. Which I just got last Monday.

Just pay if they provide you with an official receipt (stamped/signed) .

The STM is officially free , so ... (Rp10'000 tip is usual , if they give you the STM within 30 minutes) .
The one year SKLD officially cost Rp100'000 (no tip is necessary) .

              -----------------------------

Be informed that both STM and SKLD are not required anymore , although for the foreigner's registration at the Catatan Sipil (for the SKTT) they may still request a copy of the STM or the SKLD (in my city they requested the STM) .

I just did this at Australian Consulate in Bali.
You have to take marriage certificate and passport and make a statutory declaration that you got married and then they give you a letter saying you have reported your marriage.

                    • brodee - ring and ring and sms and sms today - tell them you'll be there first thing Monday to finalise it. Hopefully that'll get a response. It's a long drive from Blimbingsari to Jember if it ain't ready when you get there - but at least you can get a real coffee at Cafe Gumitir on the way there and back.

Yeah - the ritzy cafe and recreation area at the first summit. Like I say if they have fresh milk in stock you can get a decent cappucino!

Brodee, did you report your marriage at the Indonesian embassy abroad (sorry don't remember and too much work to find it)? If yes, that should suffice since they do have all the documents, right? If not, is that the reason they are being difficult now?
