(1) It is a tough schedule for doing all at once .
I would do in parts . This next visit , I would do the son's passport and the Kartu Keluarga . In the second visit , then I would do the KITAS process + the KITAP process (or the KITAP could be done in the third visit) .
A reasonable time to allocate for a KITAS or a KITAP process is around 2 months (supposing no problem in the middle) . So it is possible to do both in your second visit (request the KITAS as soon as you arrive , then requesting the KITAP as soon as you get the KITAS , so you may have still time left for requesting the KITAP's MERP and later requesting the "KK Orang Asing"/"KTP Orang Asing" (you can leave Indonesia before KK/KTP are ready) .

(2) I suppose there will be no problem . In my case , I submitted only the photocopy of one of the Buku Nikah , and immigration just took a quick look of the original (just one too) and returned it to me .

(3) This Kartu Keluarga is clearly not correct , so better get a new one . Remember that the address in it is also important . The address of all documents (KK , KTP , ..) must be the same , and the real one .

Thanks for your thought Marcus. I think I will probably follow your advice and try to arrange my son's passport to start with (as you suggested) and stay on Sosbud. I will have to find out how long my passport is likely to be in Hong Kong for.

I will still have to be careful if my passport is in Hong Kong that I get it back in time to arrange an extension of Sosbud. I don't want to have problems with immigration just because I'm arranging a passport for my son !

Hi All,
It have been a few week I did not update my story on KITAs. The last was I was given 2 set of same document to bring to Kanwil at Bandong from Sukabumi immigration office before go to Jakarta. I was told in Bandung that the is no Domicile document and my marriage certificate is not complete. The domicile document is my fault. To get it I must report to RT and RW to get a letter stating I living in this village/area. Furtunetly we know the RT and both of us go down to Desa office to get written letter to bring to Kecematan office to have the domicile document(here they ask us the document we submit to immigration for reference). This part complete. For marriage certificate the officer of Sukabumi said that the document I give him is correct and do not know why Bandung office do not want to accept it. So I ask the KUA(muslim marriage department) and was told that is the statement of marriage. Since I was married in Batam I have ask my relative to get the letter from there and they give me the same document only with diffirent date. SO all settle and proceed to Bandung the second time after 1 week pass. Reaching there in the morning and ask to return at 2pm and will call my wife if its ready early but when we come there at 1pm the document is already done but no own bother to call. I and my wife hurry to Jakarta and manged to find the location(thru GPS) just the office going to close at 4pm. My wife have to beg the supervisor I think before the relanted officer process our document with sulky face saying she should be going back. When check the system Bandung office did not update the system. The officer ask we to go back to Bandung to ask them to update but she will keep the document. When we out from there waiting for the lift down we saw the officer scold the Satpam(security office) why he let us in after office hours. I am sorry for the guy for helping us. Today already 1 week and 2 days pass. The last 2 days have try to contact Jakarta for the status but busy tone and no return call. I call Sukabumi office regarding my passport goung to expire this Saturday 28-Sep but he say need not extend the sosbud as long I already apply the KItas in process I need not extend it. But when I was in Bandung the lady officer ask me to extend it. Now I have no choice to listen to local immigration. And cross my finger I will not in to a jam. Any advice??

You need to see your local RT follow by RW then go Lurah Office and finally to Kecematan office to get domosili letter. But they(kecematan) will ask for what reason and want a photocopy of the immigration application.

(1) I dealt with Jakarta by courier . Didn't go there (see my case below) .

(2) It is normal . Not easy to contact them . I would send them a letter asking them to mail the approval letter to you or to Sukabumi's Kantor Imigrasi .

(3) Although Bandung's Kantor Wilayah (regional office) is "above" the Sukabumi's Kantor Imigrasi , it is Kantor Imigrasi that has your passport and do the extension . So if Kantor Imigrasi says it is ok , I would not worry .
In my case , it was like that too . Although the documents from Jakarta arrived after the expiration date of my Sosbud Visa , it was not necessary to extend it because the KITAS was already approved by Jakarta some days before (officially your ITAS/KITAS starts from the issuance date of the Jakarta's approval letter) .
Similarly , in my KITAP's case , Kantor Imigrasi did a 30 days "Postponement" of the KITAS expiration , without my request , as they were afraid the KITAP's approval would not come in time (at the end the KITAP's approval was dated before the start of the "Postponement") .

i got my SKD and have started my kitas application today...having to use my Darwin issued letter of no impediment as the KUA wont give me the indo one,which makes sense..i dont know why imigrasi would want to see it anyway,,they originally asked me to report my marriage to kedutaan besar australia..what a joke!any legal marriage overseas is automatically recognised in OZ....imigrasi guy in jember doesn't seem to bad though so far....and lots of anti corupsi/gratifikasi signs up everywhere and haven't seen any calo's.....PS. smashed my head getting into Bemo on way there,wasn't feeling real bright there...hehe...

Started my KITAS on the 24th of September. Picked up the form packet (free) and wife and I filled them out. Turned into counter person and he looked them over. Everything was there except Isti's parents KTP numbers. She explained they were deceased. OK, then you need death certificates. Isti explained how difficult it would be to get both of them and he seemed O with that and asked us to return on the 27th, today for the interview.

Returned today and handed in the little receipt they gave. Is. Counter person said to hold on and went looking for our packet. Another person kept walking by and telling us soon. It ends up they can't find it. Wasn't too worried because I figured it was in the building somewhere. One hour later they said they have it and to just wait for a while and then go to the counter again. We waited 30 minutes and went to the counter with our receipt. Wrong, we are to go to the Supervisor/Security room. Went there. No one knew what we were there for. Passed around to three people. Finally sat down and both of us were asked simple questions. 40 minutes later and 4 times telling us this would be simpler for us with an agent.after he wrote everything I signed the paper he wrote out. He said someone would type up the form and that we should wait in the chairs until it's ready. Someone would let us know. We waited an hour and a half and Istri decided to check on the progress of the typing. She was told that we needed to take our receipt and check at the counter. OK, off we went. Agent there grabbed our packet which was setting there and told us that it wouldn't be ready today. Too busy and that we should return on Monday but to call first to see if it was ready. He looked at my Sosbud visa and told me not to worry I still had plenty of time left. Grabbed a taxi and returned home. Will call on Monday.

Yes, one of the forms for the sponsor asked for the parents KTP numbers.
He didn't have a laptop or any computer at his desk. All hand written. I signed two forms.
We said we would be back. Will call next week if for nothing else then a reminder. Plan on returning next Friday the fourth any way. Will take to Kantor Wilayah and drop off for the following week pick up before taking it all to DirGenIm for it's week to 10 day stay.

Don't know if this is the only regional office or if there are others. This is the office on the Toll Way. The next stop after Selatan Immigration and before DirGenIm.

I already count 6 opportunities here where you could have it solved/finalized. I realize you have your principles and I don't want to give advice doing something illegal as paying bribes but swimming against the stream doesn't always get rewarded.

Paying one leads you into a costly current in that stream. Pay early, pay always. I have time. I never left the building. If I wanted to pay a lot I would have just got an agent.

While I know there are plenty of Expats who think nothing of pulling cash out of their pockets to greese the wheels of the government needs they may have but I am not one. I'm not one of the Expats that have a business or other conections pay for everything thus leaving all that disposable cash at my finger tips. Those with a housefull of domestic help and cars and drivers paid for by someone else. Believe it or not, some of us here are on fixed incomes. We need to do more blending in the local environment in order to make do with what we have. We already have to live with the expectations around us as being Bule is being rich and we can afford inflated prices and to give handouts whenever we need something done. Nope, we can't.

When we moved here we saud we were going to just be normal people. We believed then as we still do that to us we could care less if you are a milionair or a gardener. You are still people and be that it seems to be an unheard of concept here, we are sticking to it. Maybe we will influence another some day.

If we had spare money we would probably have gotten an agent or pulled money out of our pocket to speed along the process. We don't. Plus, every time someone slips some cash to one they are just encouraging the behavior. They do it and then complain about it. I say I won't do it. We have much more important needs for our Rupia then giving it to someone just to do their job they are already paid to do.

I've learned them, which in total honesty wasn't that hard, and I make sure they are applied. In fact, if I consider the past twelve years, things are way smoother and clean than if I would have been using an agent or bribing any civil servant. It is amazing for me to find out that when I enter in an administration, I am usually out of it, documents in hand, way before than the calo themselves. Why would I contribute to the mess then? At the beginning it has been hard and tough, with many sour feelings from each side but now I am just harvesting the fruits planted years ago and fully enjoy it and even enjoy friendly and respectuous relations with many civil servants or police officers.[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR]

Without them, you would drastically reduce the amount of corruption and inefficiency in most administration. They do the dirty job while the [/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR]pejabat² pocket the money remaining discret and as away as possible from penal troubles. Pretending to ignore that the agents are paying bribes on behalf of their client would be either being very ignorant of how the things work in Indonesia or pretty hypocrite. They use (part of) the applicant's money to bypass the law and save him/her from the penal troubles for directly bribing a civil servant and contributing to corrupt the system.

Absolutely agree! We are living here on my meagre savings and making small money on the side. every rupe counts,spent 600,000 on travel and accomodation but only 20.000 on some foto copying and 12,000 on 8 fotos for my wife at small shop at Jember..

Personally I choose my battles carefully and will not allow frustrations and sleepless nights to destroy my life here. Just some recent examples that come to mind of people who wanted to do it 'by the book': Samantha and MrC on the SIM, B_A on KITAS, Dr_Beer on KITAP. Of course I recognize there are many success stories and experiences with the administrative treadmill as well. But what if you're not one of them?
