    • Hi all...
I sent the Itas documents to jakarta on the 14th of januari. We waited for a week then started calling kemenkum&ham office in jakarta. We had been calling for weeks for everyday starting at 8 am till 4 pm using skype and home phone. Nobody ever answered. My hubby's sosbud will be expired on the 10th of february. So yesterday we went to kemenkum&ham office here in jogja. They told us the letter just arrived yesterday morning from jakarta. We waited about half an hour for them to make a letter to take to kantor imigrasi. We went there today and they said the only thing to do is to pay the kitas RP755.000, photo and finger print for hubby, which all need to be done next week.yey!!!They also gave us a copy of surat keputusan alih status from ijin kunjungan to ijin tinggal terbatas.

      • Hi everyone !
Guess who's got her KITAS ?!!!
We called KanIm last Wednesday, they said they couldn't do anything as long as KanWil hadn't sent them the ok. KanIm told us to go to KanWil and ask how long it was going to take them to send the docs to KanIm. KanIm told my husband I didn't have to come along, that he could pick up the docs and drop them off to KanWil. Since we don't trust KanIm, we both went for the three-hour drive to Medan last Thursday ! We stopped at KanWil who said they were very surprised to hear KanIm had sent us all the way there since they had already done their part of the job... A nice lady told us to go to Imigrasi, that they'd take my pix and prints that same day and issue the Kitas. She gave us her phone number should Imigrasi make it difficult.
The petugas there were pretty surprised to see us both. We don't care since we don't talk to them anymore but go straight to the boss, who's new and knows nothing about the law regarding Kitas and the procedure... but he is nice and polite and that's already enough ! He told the petugas to issue the Kitas and the POA book right away. We drove back home with both ! We'll only have to go back there on Monday because 1) they made a mistake in the POA book regarding the validity date (I checked the Kitas and POA book when they handed them to me but missed that) 2) we didn't know there are more forms to fill to get the MERP... it would have been too easy otherwise !!! Since it was already 3pm, the loket where you pay was already closed... Oh well ! a last trip to Medan next week and then we won't have to go back to KanIm for some 11 months : yippeeeeeeee !!!!!
I had to insist for the surat keputusan : fortunately Ibu Detje had scanned it and sent it to us by email so I showed them it had my name at the bottom of the letter and was addressed to me. Luckily enough, one of the petugas looked for the letter and came back with it 2 minutes later. he told me they were not used to Jakarta sending them the letters, that usually people go to Jkta and bring the letter back. Whatever !!!
Thanks again everybody for your help !

I think that it will depend on the Police officer responsible for issuing your STM . I believe the Police knows this is an irrelevant requirement and most of Indonesians who rent houses to foreigners probably don't know they are responsible for getting the STM (reporting the foreigners to the Police) . But ...

          The theory is :
          - The STM is still required , but
          - the penalty for late reporting (applied to the responsible/owner of the house/apt.) , of up to one year in jail or a fine of up to Rp5 millions , was canceled since May 2011 (due to UU6 - 2011) .

As you said Medan is far from your home , so if you don't have plan to go out of Indonesia soon , why you don't postpone this Monday's trip to after getting the STM (and other documents) for the SKLD , as it is (probably) to be requested in Medan , at the Province's Police - POLDA . Think about a way to avoid going back to Medan to get the SKLD , about 2 months later .

            • Hi Marcus !
Thanks for your comments ! I have a few more questions !
              1) I thought we had to ask for the MERP as soon as we had gotten the POA book. That's what I understood from Atlantis's step to step process on how to get the KITAS. Are you saying we can apply for the MERP whenever we want to ?
              2) I think we need to go back to Imigrasi Medan before getting the SKLD and STM since the petugas made a mistake in the POA book (he wrote my KITAS was valid until Jan 2013 !!!). Since we need to give a photocopy of the POA book for the SKLD, I guess the data has to be rectified first. Wouldn't you think so ?
              3) To get the SKLD, I read somewhere on the forum you need to provide them with a sponsor lettter. What do you write in that letter ? Do you have a template ?
              4) We just got back from the Kantor Polisi in the village. They called another Kantor and apparently we don't go to POLDA but POLRES, the Police Langkat, to get the SKLD. Can you confirm ? Or do we have to go to the Province Polisi ?
              5) Atlantis had written in that same post that there is a legal fee for the SKLD, as per June 2010. I'd like to print the UU, just in case. Do you know where I could find it ?
              6) I also read from Atlantis's post that we need to get a Surat Keterangan Domisili that we'll bring to Catatan Sipil to get SKTT, SKPPS and SKDLN. I have a Surat Keterangan Domisili Sementara. Is that enough or does the Lurah have to erase "sementara" now that I have a KITAS ?
              Thanks for your help.

                (1) You can apply whenever/if you want . It is not mandatory unless you intend to leave Indonesia . And you may also have the option to request a SERP - Single Exit/Return Permit , some days before your trip (In my first KITAS I didn't get neither a MERP nor a SERP) .

                (2) Yes , but I believe it can be corrected in few minutes , or even if not corrected I guess Police will not notice it .

                (3) POLDA may have a form for that purpose , but I have this sample that I forgot if it was used or not .

                -------------------------------------------------

                Kepada Yth:

                Dit. INTELKAM POLDA (Province's name)

Kami lampirkan di sini surat-surat lainnya yang diperlukan bagi bahan pertimbangan Bapak.

Demikianlah permohonan kami, atas bantuan dan kesediaan Bapak, kami ucapkan terima kasih.

                Hormat kami,

                (name)

                (relationship)

                ------------------------------------------------

                (4) I don't know if POLRES can receive the request . POLDA is the one responsible for the SKLD .

                (5) http://www.livinginindonesiaforum.or...-New-JUNE-2010

                (6) I would not ask for any modification of the Surat Keterangan . I believe that Kantor Kelurahan didn't give you the normal Surat Keterangan Domisili due to their specific reason(s) , not because you didn't have a KITAS .

                  • I've just started my KITAS to KITAP, but I wanted to add a couple of notes that are relevant to this thread.

When I went to Immigration-Cilacap, they had pre-printed surat permohonan available if you ask. The guy I got mine from was a bit confused, had to go ask someone and came back with a big pile of them. I got an extra just in case. You just fill in the blanks, stick on a tax stamp and sign over it.

Also, when I applied for my SKLD at IntelKam PolRes-Banyumas, they made the request letter and printed it out for me.

                    "Experiences may vary."

For mariloustique, maybe I can clarify a bit. I'll skip what marcus already clearly answered.

                    2) I think we need to go back to Imigrasi Medan before getting the SKLD and STM since the petugas made a mistake in the POA book (he wrote my KITAS was valid until Jan 2013 !!!). 4) We just got back from the Kantor Polisi in the village. They called another Kantor and apparently we don't go to POLDA but POLRES, the Police Langkat, to get the SK To get the SKLD, I read somewhere on the forum you need to provide them with a sponsor lettter. What do you write in that letter ? Do you have a template ?LD. Can you confirm ? Or do we have to go to the Province Polisi ?
                    6) I also read from Atlantis's post that we need to get a Surat Keterangan Domisili that we'll bring to Catatan Sipil to get SKTT, SKPPS and SKDLN. I have a Surat Keterangan Domisili Sementara. Is that enough or does the Lurah have to erase "sementara" now that I have a KITAS ?
                    2) It's important to get that fixed. These little errors have a way of coming back to bite you in the future.

                    4) See my note top. SKLD is from PolRes. The actual kartu is from PolDa - if you're not in the city where PolDa is, like me, you can send someone to do it for you. You may need to give a letter of authorization for the task. Yes, the card is required.

                    6) Whenever I've been given a letter of domicile, it's always been temporary and my wife recently said that's normal. If it hasn't expired, you can still use it, otherwise you'll need to get another.

                    Namaste, peace & love,
                    Glenn
