• ITAS to ITAP - Please help for contacting

Hello from Bali. I applied for conversion ITAS to ITAP at Immigration KelasII Singaraja/Bali (I had never problems with them, meaning no extra money etc.) mid September 2012. I got the receipt with the No. Permohonan. After inspection and interview I was informed that my file is now in Jakarta.
My situation at the moment is very stressful, because I am standby for another heart operation in Singapore (might be end of February) and the valid ITAS expires 21. March 2013. The nice guy at immigration here adviced me to call Jakarta for speeding up, but firstly I do not know any number nor secondly I want to push. I am afraid that the valid ITAS expires before the ITAP comes.
What would be your advice? Should we call? And if yes, do you have any (reliable) number? Thank you so very much.

(1) I believe your ITAP , if everything normal , will be approved within the next 10 working days .

(2) I would call .

Felt so good that after the second call finally somebody picked up, we were answered by Pak H. directly in (021) 5224658 and after my wife requested information (I have written her what to say step by step but, well, you know, women... ) instead of asking to be connected with Alih sponsor seksi she just starting asking about general information about the process.. which Pak H. patiently tried to answer... till the point he transferred her to Alih status Ext. 2519, where we were answered by Ibu D. which also engaged in a long explanation of the process...

[So I sent the letters from KanIm and KanWil last Thursday using Pos Express. Called Jakarta on Friday, was told they hadn't received the letter yet. Talked to a lady called Detje who told us to sms on Monday. We sent sms on Monday morning asking her about the letter, she smsed back at 8pm ! Still no letter and a problem with their server... Went to Kantor Pos yesterday morning, Pak Pos checked on his computer : the letter was delivered on Friday, he gave us the name of the person who signed to get the letter. We tried all day yesterday to call Jakarta, we smsed Detje and asked her to please sms / call us back, nothing... At around 2.30pm, we finally got someone on the line... and we talked to Detje, who told us our letter hadn't arrived. We told her it had and gave again the name of the person who had signed the pos register on Friday. Detje told us that it didn't really matter anyway because she had all my data on her computer, she could see the letters from KanIm and KanWil. But she was still waiting for the server to be fixed. She said they wanted to see the letter because it had all the photocopies in it. We checked with her we had sent the letter to the right address, no problem there !
Now I'm really confused... How can the letter get lost in their own building ??? How are they going to send the ok letter back if they can't check the docs ? We told her my sosbud was running until Feb 12th but that I'd have to extend it if I hadn't received the letter from Jakarta by the 5th. She said it wouldn't be a problem because they're online and so Immigration in Medan would see they had received the docs... She doesn't know the officers here !!!
What would you do if you were me ? Any advice ? Please help !!! ]

• Hello everybody !
Some very good news ! We sent all the docs by mail to Ibu Detje last Friday. She emailed us back that she had gotten all the docs and would be able to start the process as soon as Monday and that it would take 3 days max. I called on Wednesday morning, the phone was answered on the first call !!! Ibu Detje picked up the phone : she said she was sending the letter to KanIm later in the afternoon using TIKI and would email us the TIKI number so we would be able to monitor it on the internet and thus not have to go to Medan for nothing... We got her email yesterday afternoon, TIKI number + copy of the letter she sent to KanIm (5 pages). We checked TIKI on the internet just now and the letter is "on process". I guess it should arrive tomorrow. I am sooooo happy ! Didn't have to go to Jakarta !!!
Now, I still have my passport with me and I guess they'll ask for it when we go to KanIm to stamp the ITAS. When I was extending my sobuds, KanIm wouldn't keep my passport when I dropped off the forms. They only kept it on the second visit after I had paid. And they do the same with the other foreigners I know here...

To answer Michael Beer : call 021 522 4658 extension 2521, early in the morning (that's when I've been the luckiest !) and ask for Ibu Detje. She has been very helpful ! She still doesn't have a clue as to what happened to my docs, but then gave us her phone number and email address so we could send her all the docs and thus speed up the process. She hasn't answered yet about having her email address posted on this forum but I'll kee you posted.

Shinta : what happened once Jakarta had sent the letter to KanIm in your town ? Did they call you ? How did you know when to go there ? Did you have to bring a copy to KanWil ?

Thanks again Atlantis for posting the way to apply for KITAs step by step ! And thanks to you all for your help !

Shinta , here is what you wrote at that time (28-04-2011) , post no.26 at http://www.livinginindonesiaforum.org/showthread.php/14805-I-am-FURIOUS!!!-dealing-again-and-again-with-quot-these-things!/page3

[ ... So they send the letters from Jakarta to Denpasar and one week later we went to pick up the letter, I got three envelops, one for inmigrasi, one for me and one for them, at this time I though I had to pay something because in fact they have send the letter to Jakarta and from Jakarta to Denpasar and never they asked for money and the man told me that I did not need to pay!!
I was surprise, people asking for money when is not necessary and not asking for money when there was son expenses around, they paid for my letters to be send to Jakarta and from Jakarta and they did it gratis!!!
I took the letter back to the inmigration office and wait for a few hours, I paid 755.000 Rp and they made some photos and fingerprints for the blue book and the kitas and they told me to go back in a week to pick up the Kitas and my passport, I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy that morning!!! ...]

• tHANKS A LOT mARKUS! There is a number on the website of imigrasi )21-5224658 ext 2106. Would this work? I have no fun to spend xxxjt on Long Distance calls for nothing.
And - the procedures are: 1) Application at Kantor imigrasi Singaraja 2) After check they sent to Immigration Denpasar 3) After check they (at least said so) sent it to Jakarta. Therefore I would like to know, because of the reasons I mentioned above.

(a) Better use ext. 2521 as recommended by Mariloustique :

(b) If you want to save on the phone bill , do like me . I do long distance/international calls from my computer (PC-to-phone VOIP calls) . I use Easy Voip (www.easyvoip.com) , a call to anywhere in Indonesia cost me only USD 0.035 per minute + USD 0.04 per call .
There may be another similar company which may be cheaper for calling your home country (see ref. below) .

• Hi - I am sorry if this has been asked before however I really don't have time to look through all the posts in this thread... (my father in law has been critically ill in intensive care for the past week and passed away this morning... I was informed on Friday that I was supposed to be having an interview re the Sosbud - Kitas procedure- I had thought we were just dropping off a document so I was surprised at this, long story short after waiting for an hour for the interview I told them we had to leave because of the situation with FIL and that we had to meet with the heart specialist.
The interview has been rescheduled to Monday morning 9am...)

So my question is ... is there anything I need to know about for the interview or is it just one of those general chit-chat things along the lines of how long have you been here, where did you meet etc - the kind of questions almost any taxi driver will ask?
or
do I actually need to know some specifics?

Thanks in advance if anyone can throw some light on this before I hit the morning macet .

• Sorry to hear about your father in law. My condolences.

I've had only one interview so far, for my KITAS-to-KITAP conversion. Was just chit-chat (most likely with hopes to get a tip). First the guy made me wait for at least an hour, then with very self important air about him asked a few general questions and took his sweet time writing answers down. Once he realized that I've got plenty of time and I can do it all day, he wrapped it up.

I'd say don't worry about it too much. Make sure you have all your documents with you, in case they're being extra thorough.

• Thanks for your swift response sergei,
I rather hoped it would be along the lines of that.
I had one such similar interview way back. It felt more like someone just wanting to probe the bule about their home country and why they were in Indonesia. I was hoping it would be the same kind of thing. As for documents they already have them all , in triplicate.

As for father in law it has been a tough time - and once ICU advised us that it would be at least 4 months before he would be fit to leave there, the old cash god kicked in... sadly I don't have money for funding that kind of hospital bill. Not at 500-600 dollars per day. So, to effectively give someone a death sentence because of money has been really tough emotionally. I won't derail this thread anymore about that situation though xx
Thank you for your condolences.

Bad, don´t worry about the interview, it is a totally informal interview and they only want to make sure you are married (of course you are!!!), this time is more about that because you are asking for a kitas ikut suami and according to them some people play with these things, so they want to meet you and your husband (I don´t remember if they asked as well the husband/wife goes with you, but in my case I was with my husband), will be just a few minutes of chating and nothing else and probably they will ask you about your jobs and how you are making a living.

• The interview was long but fun at times, we were there a total of 3.5 hours.
There were 4 people in the room and it was all typed up on a computer, saved to an external drive, taken off to be printed out and then brought back to us all typed up to read through and sign.
Even though I am far from fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, I spotted an error in our marriage date (my hubby did not notice it), this would possibly lead to complications somewhere along the line - so I pointed it out.
So for any others in this situation- check the papers before you sign them even if you don't really understand all of it.

My SosBud expires on the 12th Feb
I mentioned this (again) I was told "don't worry about that, come back here on the 13th and you will have your KITAS"
I did comment how lovely it was that the process was so quick.

There were several comments about "do you like riding horses?" ... (the intent behind the words was made obvious by the way they were said and by hubby's reaction) ... my response = "yes, but only chocolate ones".
They were more interested in chatting with my hubby about music and want to be invited to the house if we have a "rock and roll party"... I did point out that there would be no vodka , as I was sure they are all good moslems and don't drink alcohol... at this point they collapsed into fits of giggles...
& that was that, interview over.
