I would ask them what exactly this mean , to be sure it is not the "EPO"/Exit Permit Only/PERGI TIDAK KEMBALI or the "Return of Immigration Document" (both are the same thing) which would mean Immigration is "kicking" you out of the country .

the request letter the girl from the warnet next door copied and printed from their sample letter. I copied this part without all my data of course ''Selaku sponsor, saya bermaksud mengajukan permohonan MERP TIDAK KEMBALI bagi suami saya dengan data sebagai berikut:.....this is where i got the confusing ERP/MERP part originally on my first post.....of course i returned my old KITAS and blue book POA.......maybe it is just for a backdated EPO. or an admission of not getting an EPO before.I'll find out soon enough!

      • Hi Atlantis and team,
I was wondering if you could give me some info with my problem.
I have been living in Lombok for the last 3 years and have been on MERPs, I have recently gotten Married to my Indonesian Fiancee and now want to get a Spouse sponsored Kitas, I have been told I will have to go on a Sosbud first and then convert it to a Kitas.
My problem is that I still work in Australia, FIFO, 1 Week on, 1 Week off, and so travel between Australia and Indonesia every week.
I know that as soon as I leave Indonesia after one week that my Sosbud will become invalid, but have been told that when I apply to change my Sosbud into a Kitas directly then the Immigrasi will keep my Passport which I need to travel for work, is there some way I can do this Sosbud to Kitas conversion without Immigrasi keeping a hold of my Passport. Also, is it possible for me to apply for the Kitas as soon as I get the Sosbud as I'm normally only in Indonesia for less than a week.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
        Regards,
        Scott.

        • I don't know what you mean by MERPs? This is something which allows you to exit and re-enter the country when on KITAS/KITAP. I guess you mean Visa On Arrival?

Anyway, your case seems a good example for the other scenario to obtain an ITAS; via the VITAS route. Then the pickup of the visa will take place in an embassy (of choice) abroad. And after you enter Indonesia, you replace it with the KITAS. This path is better for people who are not physically here yet. Loads of threads on this, do some digging.

            (1) As Jstar pointed , it cannot be a MERP . Maybe a Multiple Entry Visit Visa (one year Visa for 60 days days maximum at each entry) ?

            (2) Again as Jstar said , in your case a KITAS thru a VITAS would be quicker than a KITAS thru Sosbud , but even so it would be very difficult to be done in one week .

If I was in your situation , I would get a KITAS only after I stopped working or when I get a month vacation . Just now , a multiple entry Family Visit Visa is adequate . Very soon , there will be "Free Visa" for Australians (supposing your are Australian) , and I guess you could use it .

            (3) No way , as far as I know .

            (4) Yes .

            • Sorry guys, I thought a MERP was a Multiple re entry visa, which is what I have been getting for the last 3 years as it is good for me as I travel every week.
I'm actually on a New Zealand Passport so can get a free VOA anyway.
I was wondering if I could use my UK Passport to apply for the Vitas/Kitas as I can leave that Passport with Immigrasi for as long as it takes, and still have my NZ Passport for travelling, do you think this could be an option, as I could then
use my UK Passport to enter and exit Indonesia with my new Kitas, and use my NZ Passport to exit and enter Australia.

              • Oh!! another thing guys, can I apply for an Itas/Kitas if I enter Indonesia on a VOA, or do I need to apply for a Wife sponsored Sosbud first, or do I have to apply for the Itas/Kitas in Australia so no need for a Sosbud first, when I went to Immigrasi in Mataram Lombok, they told me I would have to have a Sosbud first before I could apply for a Kitas, sorry for all the questions guys, this is very confusing for me.

                  (b) can I apply for an Itas/Kitas if I enter Indonesia on a VOA ...

                  (c) do I have to apply for the Itas/Kitas in Australia ...

                  (a) I think there are 2 problems with that :
                  - You cannot have 2 Indonesian Visas simultaneously .
                  - I think you could not leave Indonesia with the NZ passport if you entered Indonesia with the UK passport (you have to enter Indonesia with the UK passport if you want the KITAS with the UK passport) .

                  (b) No . You have only 2 options to get a KITAS : thru a VITAS (Limited Stay Visa) or thru a Sosbud Visa . A VITAS requires a telex Visa from Jakarta , like you did with the multiple entry Visa , before you get the VITAS at an Indonesian Embassy . The Sosbud Visa can be obtained going directly to the Embassy with the sponsor's letter/documents .

                  (c) See (b) above . The ITAS/KITAS (Limited Stay Permit) will be issued inside Indonesia , at the city where you live . After entering Indonesia with one of the above mentioned Visa , you will have to request the KITAS at your city's Kantor Imigrasi .

                  ------------------------------------------

                  Notes :
                  - I suppose you have been using a Multiple Entry Visit Visa sponsored by a company , because you said you started getting it before you marry . Now married with an Indonesian you can get a Multiple Entry Family Visit Visa sponsored by your Indonesian spouse . This means that you don't depend on that company to get the Visa .
                  - The Free Visa (on arrival) is only for doing tourism . They will issue you a paid VOA if you tell them that you will visit your spouse .

OK I'm all in the clear as far as my ITK (stay permit) is concerned, apparently all i submitted were documents regarding return of KITAS and Blue Book POA...They were not too concerned about me breaking the EPO rules, the guy at the counter only asked today why I didn't extend my KITAS...i have posted the ''surat keterangan'' they gave me. 2. Jember will not budge about having to get a Vitas instead of just ''alihstatus'' ITK - ITAS.....I am going back on the 13th Jan. to perpanjang my ITK...(sosbud)..will have another shot at getting ITAS then....remind my not to get angry next-time I'm there, had to go back and apologize to keep myself in the good books....another guy higher up from the counter guy got involved and both are adamant they wont accept and put forward an application for itk-itas conversion at Jember Imigasi...they both have been told by their new Kepala Imigrasi that they only process VITAS there... also will post the details on visa extension in case some is needing itIMG_20151228_0004 (455x640).jpgIMG_20151228_0002 (455x640).jpgIMG_20151228_0001 (478x640).jpg

                    • (1) I would enter and exit Indonesia with the UK passport which would have the Kitas, and leave and enter Australia on my NZ passport, I thought this would work until I move permanently to Indonesia in a few years.
                      (2) I was also wondering if anyone can give me the Bahasa Indonesia names for the forms to download for the spouse sponsored Multiple Entry Visa, the Spouse sponsored Sosbud Visa and the Spouse Sponsored Kitas Visa please, as when I go to the Perth Indonesian Embassy website the form names are all in Bahasa Indonesia.
                      (3) Can anyone tell me what are the requirements and procedures are for getting a Family card, an I/D card, and an Indonesian drivers licence now that I am Married to an Indonesian, do I have to wait until I have a Kitas etc

                      Regards
                      Scott.

                        (x) After you get the KITAS , yes , I think so . Do you think you will get the KITAS in one week ?

                        (y) For the multiple entry Visa , look for "Visa Kunjungan untuk beberapa kali perjalanan" ; for the Sosbud Visa , look for "Visa Kunjungan untuk satu kali perjalanan" ; for the VITAS , look for "Visa Tinggal Terbatas" or "Visa Berdiam Sementara" . These names are the general names , the sponsorship is defined in the form , when necessary .

                        (z) See links below (each city may have a little different requirements) . Be informed that you cannot get your Family Card yet . You can get your Indonesian ID card if you get a KITAS (its name is SKTT) . I don't know much about driving license .

                        • I just got my driving license with KITAS. You just need to go to the foreigner counter and the best is your wife accompany you to go there or you can speak fluent bahasa.

                            • imigrasi Jember has refused to accept my ITK (visa sosbud) alih status jadi ITAS once more with the same reason that they only accept from people who have a VITAS. Not impressed!

                              • File a complaint. Also, I really would like to know why Imigrasi Jember states there is a 'STM version' in which reporting by hosts of foreign visitors to Imigrasi is mandatory.
