    With the government refusing to impose large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) and instead opting to tighten micro-scale public activity restrictions (PPKM Mikro) to weather the current wave, concerns have been raised over whether the healthcare system can hold out before the infection curve reaches a plateau...

    As of Friday, Jakarta had... bed occupancy rate of at least 90%...

    With the bed occupancy rates at some hospitals [in Bandung] already exceeding 100%...

    Doctors and epidemiologists have called on the government to impose a PSBB or a lockdown to relieve the burden on hospitals and prevent a rising fatality rate...]

    [Indonesia is facing its darkest pandemic days ahead as local hospitals grapple with soaring cases amid shortages of ICUs and oxygen tanks.

    The country posted record highs of 555 deaths and 27,233 new cases on Sunday (today), with Jakarta contributing over 10,000 new cases, West Java almost 4,500 and Central Java nearly 3,000.

    New emergency public activity restrictions (PPKM Darurat) have been in place across Java and Bali since Saturday (yesterday) to weather the unprecedented second wave of infections that is fueled by increased mobility around the Idul Fitri holidays and the emergence of the more contagious Delta variant.

    Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan predicted daily confirmed cases would continue to increase in the next two weeks...]

      [Indonesia reported (yesterday) a record increase of coronavirus infections, as authorities unveiled plans to order liquid oxygen and tens of thousands of concentrators from abroad to treat patients suffering from the respiratory disease. The country is fighting a devastating new virus outbreak fueled by the highly contagious delta variant that has stretched parts of the health system to breaking point. The COVID-19 task force announced 47,899 new cases, the 6th daily record in the past 10 days and up about 7fold from a month ago...It also reported 864 new deaths (yesterday)...
