1) the existing mods/oldtime users had a massive hissy fit because they couldn't write posts for a few days while the upgrade was taking place, so flounced off in a huff
2) there had been a plan for a while to set up a rival forum and this technical hiccup provided a good excuse.
Anyway what's done is done. On a positive note, it seems no-one has been banned on either forum since this happened, so perhaps it's a victory for free speech?
A hissy fit does not sound like a sabotage on an admin-only level.
number two is quite enlightening... I didnt know there was a reason to even consider a second forum for any reason thus far...
...also you only have 4 posts and just joined. I have to admit I do not take your post as seriously as I would take someone else more senior about this matter which probably started since before you joined, hope you understand bro. Also welcome.

Maybe you guys can explain a timeline of what happen of sorts? Members like me who come off and on to learn things and if possible contribute abit, learnt to love the forum's various personalities and the site as a whole. (its a good job btw)
Missing certain people's voices in threads would seriously change the tone and feel of a forum. Digitally, besides how the layout is, these things are the defining part of any given forum. (and all the previous contributions by all the members)
I understand it can sometimes be very grating when so many damm questions keep being pressed.... but people want to know and forums are a very free very transparent place, atleast as free and as transparent as the admins and mods make it.

"Sabotage" is a vague umbrella term which can refer to broad range of actions. Could you please elaborate as to specific types of "sabotage" were attempted? I am not questioning your sincerity, but I also have a lot of respect for the former mods resulting from their years of contributing to the expat and friends-of-expats community in Indonesia.

In fact it is better than the last one. Funny how people can get so uptight about an internet forum.

Hijacking the old mods accounts, if this is the case, is very sad. Why would you do this?
This has been such a great source of information for many people, now no one knows who is posting and if these things are real or not.
This excellent resource has been turned into a joke just because the "owner" could not be bothered to tell the moderation team about an upgrade. All very silly.

Absolutely two forums can exist without problems. We wished them well in their new endeavors !
The problems began when we saw evidence of sabotage by former mods on this forum, things that are only seen by users at an admin level. We've also received complaints via email from some members.
You're asking here ... "Why are previous mods complaining elsewhere that they are no longer able to log in" They've already expressed their discontent with this forum, so why are they even trying to login? Why should users who are trying to sabotage this Forum be allowed access?
Yes, their accounts were banned, we stated that publically. Yet we chose not to alter their handles.
I too trusted those mods until just the last two weeks showed a different side of their characters, They acted collectively, as a group, thus they were banned as a group.

"Tell me your name, Demon!" You guys have been watching a lot of exorcism movies, haven't you? Or maybe detective shows.
He is not gonna confess, but don't worry, at least some of us - including me - know him well from some of his many previous incarnations. I don't know his real name, of course (and would not say it publicly if I did). I certainly could mention a few of his previous nicks here. I just call him "'muk". Bzzz ...
Assuming the admin have the same (or better) tools as before, they should be able to identify him and re-ban him easily enough.

Once you have made the source of your bias clear, we can have a reasonable discussion about the inaccuracies in your statement.
