Fred, you are living in the past. You don't need to 'invade' a country to attack its citizens and you certainly don't need the backing of your own country to do it. Countries invading other countries just doesn't work anymore. Those who have tried it recently have invariably come unstuck.

I believe the ban is a cheap political shot at an enemy that is manufactured. There have been zero attacks in Europe by Muslim wearing burkha and very few by Muslims at all. Western political forces have been behind hundreds of European attacks but the Irish, Basque and so on are all white and look like us. A lot harder to create an enemy from those groups.
The US was funding the IRA for much of it's murderous bombing but that has been forgotten now there is a war on terror as has US funding of Cuban terror groups.

I just did and don't see your point. What I saw when I did had to do with history way beyond 1812. No matter what it is you are pointing too let me know here please.

Yes true and there were some who did welcome the invasion but I would say they were in the minority. Yes again they claimed that in Iraq and were met with thousands who welcomed them. I have no idea the percentage of who welcomed them and who didn't. I would say the fighters mostly from other countries after the fall of Sadam were the majority who did not. I doubt those fighters are welcome by so many now or for a long time.

No. But I think a lot more Muslim countries would be throwing their weight around if the could. Wiping Israel off the map would be top of the agenda for some.
