Default Anggur Merah from Orang Tua

I found finaly the official Anggur Merah from the brand "Orang Tua". I bought it in a small Toko Jamu (who sell medicinal herbs and traditional beverages...).Cost for 1 bottle of 75cl = 35 000 rupiah and taste's between Sangria and Porto wine, very good with ice!
I just want to know if any body already get problems with that...Or just share where to find it if somebody is greedy like me!

No!! Don't drink it! what do you mean with problems? If you count in liver damage, terrible hangover even after two glasses and blurry vision. Yes.. already get problems.. It's really the worst stuff I've ever tasted and a shame to compare the taste with port wine.

It sucks. Many have lost sight and some have died with cheap alkohol in Indonesia.
Réellement, tu devrais faire attention. L'alcool frelaté fait de nombreux dégats en Indonésie. L'an dernier une poignée d'étranger sont décédés sur Bali et Lombok avec une merde similaire.

That Orang Tua brand has been around since 1948 and they're distributed throughout the country, so it's not one of those fly-by-night deal. I would say they're safe. About taste, that's a different matter.

I can understand the concerns since newspapers mentioned Anggur Cap Orang Tua as one of the causes of incident related to cheap alcohol. There are some explanation for that:
    1. It is known as healthy drink if consume only one shoot per day. But some people overused it due to its cheap price.
    2. People often mix Anggur Cap Orang Tua with non food grade alcohol and other chemical to increase the alcohol content. The Orang Tua Brand itself contained 14,7% alcohol.
    3. Due too its simple packaging, it's relatively easy for people to fake Anggur Cap Orang Tua. This fake bottle, God knows what's in it, that often caused health failure to people who consumed it.
Always try to be modest. And be damn proud of it!

    Okelah! Thanks for the answers!

I have to say this "wine" is quite good with some ice and a little bit of lemon juice! It's also true that after 2 or 3 glasses you already feel the effects...Warm and shining eyes!

I discussed with locals and they consider this drink as a real medicine, but not more than 1 or 2 glass a day!

I am going to leave Jakarta for a two months trip around Indonesia and hope to find this wine everywhere in this country!

I think it can not be worst than 8 months with "Zio" (phonetic word from Vietnam) : kind of very strong alcool home made, in Hanoi, that I drank every weekends last year! 50 cl cost 0,50$. Never knew where that stuff was coming from...but more than 50% strenght!

Those who died did not have to drink it for 8 months. One time was enough.
You may well do fine for many months but I believe that it is important that you are aware that you hardly know what is inside some bottles. To earn a little more rupiah some won't hesitate to fake brands which are already questionable when they are original.

    Thanks to keep me aware.

But those articles are talking about the rice distilled alcool, a strong one! Not a juicy anggur merah bought in herbal shops. Maybe I am to naive! I will finish my bottle and stop for 10 days and see what will happen...

Locals told me that you mustn't drink to much if you want to be safe. But I am not a binch drinker, one or two glass are enought!

    Thanks again.
