    Default Hotels In Yogjakarta

    Hi,

Im looking for a nice hotel to stay at in Jogja.

We usually stay at my parents in law place, but since my husband's sister is getting married, the house will be chaos, so we have decided to find a nice "haven" for ourselves in Jogja.

We arent really interested in being near Malioboro (been there done that plenty of times)

The wedding reception is being held on the UGM campus grounds in their function hall.

Would love to hear suggestions and view any photos if possible

    Thanks

Jogja is a small city. You can stay anywhere and go to the wedding reception easily. For more information about Jogja please check http://yogyes.com/

If you want to splurge, you could try the Hotel on the hill about 5 to 7 minutes above Borobudur, Amanjiwo, it is excellent for a real getaway. No TV, no newspapers, Internet in the library of the hotel only. Just excellent service, good food and drink and leave your handphones at home..........

I had some bad experiences of hotels in Jogya; dirty beds and rooms and inedible food.

The Sheraton is nice, and has great views from the dining room overlooking Gunung Merapi (one of the most active volcanoes in the world, for those who don't know), smoking away ominously outside while you enjoy your toast and coffee. And if you are used to Jakarta prices, the room rate will be a very pleasant surprise.

Well they were going to have the wedding reception at JOGJA PLAZA HOTEL..but they said the management didnt seem interested in their enquires.

I've checked out Amanjiwo on their website sometime last year and it looks amazing with amazing prices as well

We have chosen www.rumahmertua.com (translates to parents in law's house) which is located near the Grand Hyatt... and pretty much close enough to the parents house and the wedding reception place

    Thanks for the suggestions

What kind of attraction you are looking for?

Most tourists come to Yogyakarta, as far as I know, for its Keraton (Sultan Palace), Prambanan Temple, or Borobudur Temple. In Prambanan you can see Ramayana Dance, but I'm not sure for the schedule. There are some hidden and smaller temples too around Prambanan. Borobudur is the biggest Buddhism Temple.
We also have beaches in south, but it's a bit far from the town.
You can try to google them first.

If you come during this month, there is FKY (Yogyakarta Art Festival).

The tourists area is in the south. You can find a lot of guest house and expat cafe there.

Can you specify what kind of hotel do you want to stay in? Facility or any price-range or something?

last time i went to yogya i stayed in garuda hotel. it's in malioboro area. you can walk to the palace.( a bit far but it's ok lah)
hyatt is a nice place.. love the swimming pool, but it's a bit far from downtown.
rumah mertua (in laws's house) is a hotel with local taste. quite ok
my fave hotel at the moment would be hotel tentrem and pelataran. both are great hotels ..
pelataran is a bit out of the city ..
dont judge a book by it cover. judge it by it price. good books are expensive
