Semarang New Regulations for Registering WNA (Foreigners)

Hi guys just for updates, I finally manage to sort out my problem and found out that there is a new regulation in Semarang. It was imposed on 13, April 2010

It states that all WNA should pay uang jaminan that worth 5,000,000 Rp per person.

To get your SKTT, you should pay this amount as a bond before they will issue this document. I was fined 15 juta uang jaminan for me, my daughter and my newborn son. I am glad this is legal thus making my employer responsible for this payment.

Semarang doesnt like expats in town anymore and I am glad I am moving out! Good luck to those who will renew there KTAS and still needs to get SKTT...(Surat Keterangan Tempat Tinggal)

I am a little confused . You said you were "fined" , and I understand this as you have violated a rule (being late for the SKTT?) and not a normal fee to get the SKTT. Am I wrong ?

An absolutely stupid and crazy PerDa (regional regulation)... They should educate the DPRD (local council legislator) before allowing them to pass regulations...
On a second thought, it ain't that surprising. In my city I know a few DPRD and to be honest they are not the smartest and most knowledgeable people one could meet in Manado. Anyway, they had the money to get elected. It might be enough...

No the fine is only 1 juta for a span of 1 year but to get the SKTT, all WNA should pay uang jaminan per pax. I have the brochure that they are giving away. It's crazy!
