Don't forget to stop by our primary website, Living in Indonesia, A Site For Expatriates.
Mbah JingkrakA traditional Javanese wooden house open to the front, step inside and you are greeted by a large table with about 30 different dishes and 17 serving staff. One points are the various sambals and dishes and have them brought to your table.
Cuisine:
Javanese / Indonesian
Warung Mbah Jingkrak
Jl. Bulungan 26 Kebayoran, Tel 722 0891
(at first the staff were reluctant to serve me, because I am bule and they thought I could not eat spicy food)
$ Price : $ (out of 5)
Good points : Fast service, traditional foods, music on weekends
Bad points : can get busy, no beer.
Everyday nasi bungkus (padang, warteg, etc). When I get bored with all that just cross the street to Ranch Market in Buncit or kemang area
I really do not know where to have good food. My basic principle thinking is that " any food that can fill fully my stomach, make me full and that it is not poisonous is considered as good food, irrespectively of the price of the food, either cheap or expensive."
May be my conception is too naive. Can anyone really enlighthen me about how to select and enjoy good food.
thks and Best Regards
Siomay - carefour
the taste a little bit identic with siomay in Bandung .... delicious I think
My favourite in Jakarta is Samudra Chinese Restaurant inside a shopping mall, if I am not mistaken, Taman Anggrek? Scrumptious prawn mayonaise..Have also tried soft shell crab...it is very nice as long as you don't know what it is.
