Michael Jackson's doctor Murray is suspected by cops for giving him some drugs (?) to enable him went to bed easier, but eventually it made him leaving the world forever.
Medicine is not my field of expertise, but it is hard to overlook the fact that even if We stray away from potentially harmful or even lethal drugs, that are popular and sometimes demanded by patients in a way of blackmailing Their own physicians in order to obtain those drugs.
Most popular are relaxants and/or sleep helpers from the family of ¨benzos¨ like lorazepam, oxazepam, halcion, diazepam (valium) xanax and few others. second group are painkillers like vicodin, tylenol3, dolargan, codein, oxicontant etc ( I could misspell some names but You get the idea)
I write this thread without doing any research.
I just got a bad news from friend of mine and I am terrified. His girlfriend died from liver complications or liver failure rather.
What the drug in question was ? None of the above mentioned by me up above.
The name of the drug was Acetaminophen.
Which comes in a variety of different brands the most popular is Tylenol and Benadryl.
I was and am aware of this danger for many years. My friend wife is RN in one of the New York City hospitals, and she told me that if one wants to commit suicide.
All what one has to do is to pop few hundred of this popular babies, and bye bye
But the main problem comes with casual users plus the ones who mixed up with alcohol, even as simple as a glass of wine.
From top of my head I remember a story, that of one of the Bush´s family member needed a liver transplant and even was suing the drug company.
Can anyone can make a search on this one please. I am well too shaken up from the news I just got. I am not in the mood to sleep or eat let alone do any kind of research.
Also please share with us other potentially other harmful drugs that can be obtained without prescription.
I only have one link to offer, it is from lawyers site so be open minded. But I do know that the facts on that page are valid.
Here is the link: read this
Just on the final note
I did not included in my post on purpose the MJ story because It is isolated incident.
And has nothing to do with my presented story/post.
Michael Jackson's doctor Murray is suspected by cops for giving him some drugs (?) to enable him went to bed easier, but eventually it made him leaving the world forever.
Tylenol or paracetamol if taken in excess will irreversibly damage the liver. So long as you follow the dosage instructions on the package or prescription, however, you are in absolutely no danger. By the same token nobody is obliged to take these drugs so if you are scared of overdosing accidentally then simply don't buy them.
How true Your words sound. I agree 100% with Your comments.
The thing is that people are not aware about potential problems.
I have two links, both of them i have found via Reuters. First: http://www.torahview.com/bris/html/tylenol.html
This one here is from ABC news: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/PainNew...7699582&page=1
The one from ABC here explains the Bush connection.
I was wrong it was not Bush family but ex President staff member.
Very good to know , Hades . I see now , in a 2006's book by T. Colin Campbell , PhD , that in USA , 106,000 people die , per year , due to "adverse drug effects" and 7,400 people , die per year , due to "medication errors" .
Do NOT combine paracetamol and alcohol. Paracetamol by itslef is just fine in prescribed doses. Combined with alcohol it will very aggressive on your poor liver. There are other painkillers that are "ok" with alcohol if you have a headache and must drink.
Therapeutic doses of Paracetamol are not contraindicated with alchohol!...
Also can you be more specific and list these other painkillers you claim are ok when taken in conjunction with alchohol...
The links below provide a more accurate description of the interaction between Paracetamol and Alchohol...

You present some solid information omdafyd. Looks like I stand corrected.
It was a pharmacist who told me and recommeded me acetylsalicylacid or aspirin if you intended to consume alcohol shortly after intake. Aspirin is however not suitable if you have peptic ulcers.
Aspirin is known to be one of the common causes of Gastric Ulcers, therefore it is correct to say that ingesting it when one already suffers from this Medical condition will be problematic.
Paracetamol, is a safer alternative in this context....
Note; Anyone with Liver Issues should consult a Medical Practitioner before ingesting either of these two Medications.
The link below discusses the potential serious effects of Aspirin in combination with alchohol.
