    Default Motorcycle news

I don't see anywhere else for share about what is new in the motorcycle market.

The tread on "cyber garage - car for sale" start to be too much out of topic.
I was thinking "hobbies" was more appropriated for the subject.

Anyone who heard about a new motorcycle coming in Indo, a update made on a motorcycle... you are welcome to comment here

Note: please keep discussion about old and antic motorcycle in another tread

Yesterday I was searching for part number (and price) for my ScorpioZ.
When I open the Yamaha web page I saw they will have a "new" V-Ixion called lightning
Matter of curiosity I have made some search on the net:

From where I take this pic: http://overbore.wordpress.com/2012/1...ng-futuristik/

From what I can see, the basic of the motor will be same; same engine, same frame. Mainly only esthetics change... except for the wheel! and tire.
From this "prototype" it have bigger tire and rear disk brake. Now a day prototype are made for being produce, it have good chance the final product will be like that. They say it will be at the motorcycle show.

Not so long I have told I would love if they remake the "new" scorpio based on this Brazilian model (Yamaha Fazer 250) as I like a lot the wheel.

They are now using the same style of wheel on this V-Ixion lightning.
The tire are smaller than the Fazer at 90/80-17 front (2.15 rim) and 120/70-17 rear (3.5 rim) for the V-Ixion lightning

I hope they will also apply the same change to the ScorpioZ soon.
I don't really expect they will do that before next year minimum as the "new" ScorpioZ is still quite new, but... that change nothing, I'm still dreaming

    Philippe,

That bike looks pretty nice except that the engine is so small. I had a Honda Hornet 600cc when I lived in Singapore and was dreaming of moving up to the 900cc model. I later lived in Japan and due to the economics of the motorcycle market, bought the 250cc version. I certainly didn't like it as much as my previous model and I still hope to get the 900cc model sometime in the future. It was a fantastic bike.

    I perfectly understand you!
I had pass from a Ducati Monster 750cc (plenty of torq!) to a ScorpioZ 225cc

I have no other interest in the V-Ixion than his wheel would fit weel on my bike
Yamaha, at the opposite of Honda, have keep to make motorcycle with drum brake at the rear... I'm glad he is taking up the beat and hope it will put disk brake to the ScorpioZ too.

For me, having a bike that is build for speed (almost any 4-in-line bike) have very small mean here in Indo. What is the goal to have a motorcycle set up for being comfortable/usable at more than 150km/h while you will rarely reach a 70km/h cruising speed!

For now my 225cc can do all what I want (and possible to due to the state of the road), but I would prefer a 400cc for a little more torq on slope.
I like to have a light motorcycle for city driving, a big motorcycle would not be as much enjoyable.

    KTM DUKE 200 & BAJAJ PULSAR 200NS

For make a little of history, Bajaj (India) own a big part of KTM (Austria).
Recently they have developed the KTM Duke 125 that was a good hit in the European market.
That lead Bajaj and KTM to run their next marketing plan: the KTM DUKE 200
In the same time Bajaj have created the Pulsar 200NS using the same engine (slightly modify).

The 2 motorcycle have a lot in common, where the Pulsar is a cheaper version of the KTM
    The main difference are:
Duke have Injection while Pulsar have carburetor, that give them a different power curve.
Duke have a 43mm UPS suspension, Bajaj have a 37mm conventional suspension.
Their dimension are extremely identical while they have a different frame and quality part. The Bajaj weight a 15kg more than the lightweight DUKE that is at 125kg.

The Duke is available now in Indonesia for around 60-70 juta rp
The Pulsar will probably touch Indonesian ground in the beginning of the next year (Feb-March?) for an unknown price (my guest is it will be around 40-50 juta rp like all other motorcycle of this category in Indonesia)

Both bike have a triple spark (3 spark plug for the cylinder) and said to be economic on fuel consumption.
From this article, the Indian guy said it have an average of 37km/l while he had TRY the motorcycle. When you try a motorcycle, you are not tender with it and it will consume more than a "normal" ride.

From this other article, the guy said it would be possible to make 200 mile (330km) out of the 10 liter tank of the KTM

Good idea to start a specific thread. Bikers unite !
I am still very keen on my small bikes 250CC 2 stroke and a 250CC CBR. I am looking at the Ninja 150RR, 2 stroke. Has nice figures on paper, 30bhp from a 150cc that is like 120bhp from a 600cc... not bad at all. But I would not take it into traffic, would be for Sentul race track.
    Cheers

Also looks like modified CDIs and exhausts are very cheap!

I agree with you Jean, the 150RR look great on paper.
Light and powerful for a 150cc
They revise it recently, it even look better.

What I don't like (same than on my Scorpio) is the suspension and tire that are too much small!
This motorcycle deserve to have the same suspension and tire than the Ninja 250.

I like the look of the Special Edition (150RR SE) in white.

I think I will agree on the suspension, that will likely need an update. But for the tire, I am afraid a wider tire will only add looks, in reality it will slow you down. I would ditch the tires anyway and go for a soft racy tire with lower profile. But wider, I don't think so.

Where does one pick up a second hand KRR ? And the parts like modded CDI and exhaust ? I am a rookie in Jakarta...

For being frank, my knowledge about racing is quite limited and I don't really know what size of tire are available.

By all coincidence, yesterday I cross by a Kawasaki Ninja 150RR SE exposed at a mall. I was with wife and kid, I only take a fast look at the bike.
The bike look very clean. Sometime from pic to reality the look don't look same... I really like this white version!
Compare to a Ninja 250 that have a tank of 17 liter compare to 11 for the 150RR, the 150RR look very more slim and less impressive. For my use I would prefer a bigger tank, but I like this slim look, seem a better fit for traffic than a 250R.

For the tire, I would never think about putting very more large tire to the 150RR.
Right now it have 110/80-17 rear and 90/90-17 front, both tire look very "fat".
You will probably be able to fit a 90/80 in the front, and 110/70 on the rear... but definitely not a 120/70 on the rear.

In any case I would never put something more wide than a light sporty 130 tire on this bike. I think a set of 100/80 & 120/70 would fit well on this bike, I'm don't think you can fit that on the custom wheel.

My brother in law have recently buy a brand new V-Ixion (150cc), some week after buying it, he modify it with a kit (rim with rear disk brake and new swing-arm) of 110/80 front and 130/70 rear and put bridgestone BT45 rear for both tire.
After saw the motor, I told my wife "it look good, but the tire are way too much big and heavy for the engine and bike"
He had also make some esthetic change and change all the rear seat.

Today, some month later, he don't like at all his bike... he prefer ride the Scoopy of my father in law than his bike!
His bike had been parked for almost a month in our drive way while he was using the Scoopy. The covering of the "new stylish split sport seat" have already opened on the rear; very cheap quality.
From the last news, the V-Ixion is for sold and he want replace it with a Scoopy!
