i am a newbe here , guess this isnt the right forum looking for a hotel but cant find any better

i have never been in Jakarta before , hope anyone can help.

my budget is up to 40 US $ per day

I will be quite frank, for that sort of money any place you find in those crap holes will also be a crap hole.
Do yourself a favour and upyour budget a bit, having never been to JKT before i would think twice about those areas unless absolutely necessary.

the pullman is near by but i cant afford.

How about renting an apartment?
fully furnished apartment at the complex next to pullman will cost $40-50/night.

i don't suggest you to Daan Mogot area. its totally crap!
but i don't know either which place would be best to stay. try to find out the suggestion of post #4. sounds good..
