Question Visa for foreign husband to stay in Indo for a year (except KITAS)? Please.

I'm an Indonesian citizen, my husband is American. We are living in Canada right now, and we have to move to Indo soon. What type of visa that my husband can get? He lived in Indo last year (for almost a year), he had KITAS; that time I filed the form in Indo. But now, I'm in Canada, and we want to move to Indo at the same time (travel at the same time). We also have a 9-month old baby boy to travel with.
So is there any possibilities to get a visa tinggal terbatas for my husband if I'm not in Indo?
Thank u so much for the share ....

    Dian & family

    (1) VITAS (Visa ITAS) , for one year after converting it to ITAS/KITAS ; Social Cultural/Family Visit Visa - single entry (Sosbud Visa - single entry) , for up to 180 days ; ...

    (2) Same for your baby , if he is not Indonesian .

    (3) VITAS = Visa Tinggal Terbatas .
The difficult to get the VITAS is that the Indonesian Embassy can only issue it after an authorization from Jakarta's Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi , which maybe you could apply through the internet but you will need somebody in Jakarta to pay the fee for the authorization to be sent to the Embassy .

It would be easier to get a Sosbud Visa - single entry , instead . It is a lot easier to get , and it is also easy to convert it to a KITAS in Indonesia (if the Sosbud is sponsored by you) .

Default Thank you Marcus for the reply and the link. it's really helpful.

Our son has dual citizenship (indo-america). I'm the sponsor. So will it be possible right even though I'm not in Indo right now?
I can't find Sosbud visa at their website. http://www.imigrasi.go.id/index.php?...845&Itemid=183.
It seems like it easier to apply sosbud visa. And I guess online visa application for my husband is possible. Then when we arrive in Indo, my husband has to convert it to KITAS. Is that a good plan u think?

Ooooh I'm kinda confuse about all this paperwork. It drives me crazy.

    (a) Yes .

    (b) Its is the item 3b "Visa Kunjungan untuk satu kali perjalanan.."/"Keluarga" at http://www.imigrasi.go.id/index.php?...844&Itemid=183 .

    (c) Yes . It normally requires only a "sponsor letter" and a copy of your KTP , and a copy of the marriage certificate , in addition to your husband documents . See sample of the "sponsor letter in the ref. below .

http://www.livinginindonesiaforum.or...=5217#post5217 (post no.4 , sample of sponsor's letter to Embassy)

    Notes :
    - As you are outside Indonesia , I believe you don't need the Rp6000 stamp (some posters succeeded without the stamp) .
    - If your KTP expired , I believe you can substitute it with a copy of your passport .
    - If you don't have your marriage certificate in hand , It may be better not to inform that he is your husband . Ironically , if the sponsor is not the spouse , less documents are required .

    (d) For both the VITAS and the Sosbud Visa , he will have to do similar additional procedures at the immigration offices in order to get a KITAS . These are the reasons why getting a Sosbud Visa instead of a VITAS is my recommended way to get the KITAS :

    - Sosbud is a lot easier to get than the VITAS ,
    - Sosbud has much more time (up to 150 days , if extensions are considered) to convert to a KITAS than a VITAS , which has only 7 days for you to submit the request , after arriving in Indonesia .

Sorry to deviate from the topic but I have a major doubt. You mentioned a copy of the marriage certificate. Is that necessary since it's not mentioned as a requirement on the RI consulate website for India? http://www.kjrimumbai.net/consular/V...QUIREMENTS.htm
I have a buku nikah & I plan to apply for a sosbud visa next year. Will a photocopy of the buku nikah suffice in that case?

    Buku nikah = marriage certificate.

Yes , as John Madden said , if you refer to "Buku Nikah" from Indonesian KUA .

I wrote "marriage certificate" meaning "a document proving a legal marriage" .

    Hello,
I've applied for sos-bud visa for my Canadian husband at the KJRI in Toronto. You don't have to apply in Jakarta for a sos bud visa. For other locations, you can check http://consular.indonesia-ottawa.org...ere-to-obtain/ they have different offices depending on where in Canada you reside.

Once you are in Indonesia then you can start converting the visa to a KITAS. Good luck!

Hey guys .. Thank u so much for all of the explanation.
My husband will apply Sosbud visa from KJRI Chicago soon.

Thank you so much guys. Sosbud visa. And I guess I dont need to process KITAS because he's not gonna be in Indo for a year. I've read in their website that sosbud visa is good enough if my husband wants to stay in indonesia for a month two.
