Imported from the USA -- then I assume it is a 110 volt model. Is that correct? Does in come with an appropriately sized transformer/converter?
Are you located in Jakarta?

7jt?? Got news from Sogo that it's only 5.7jt now and even cheaper where i bought my baking supplies and tools.
Are the ones that Sogo carries tilt-up models?
Think KitchenAid only has tilt-up models?
Anyway, at the time I wanted to take along one of these mixers from the US and thought to use a voltage converter. Asked some electricians and they advised against it. The mixer runs at 110 Volt / 60 Hertz, the local voltage is 220-230 Volt / 50 Hertz. The voltage converter can lower the voltage to the device from 220V to 110V but the frequency of 50Hz will still be the same. The KitchenAid motor is designed for 60Hz. And the lower frequency could (over time) overheat and damage the motor.
Having said that; I used a converter with gaming consoles (also motor inside) and CD players and that worked well. When I raised that to some 'experts', they said it had to do with the motor type (asynchronous whatever).
Actually there are two popular arrangements: the tilt-up where the machine is raised above the bowl and the bowl-lift design where the machine is stationary and the bowl is lifted up to the mixing blades. The bowl-lift models are the ones dubbed "professional" and usually cost more.
I suspect the Sogo models are tilt-up and the one offered here is a bowl-lift. Could be wrong though, as there is scant information provided by the OP.
Ah okay. In most countries in Europe they only have that tilt-up* Artisan. Not sure about Singapore or HK. The box says 600 Pro so I guess it's the other one. Now that seems very interesting (good tip WA) so might look for it next time (prefer the 220V model).
I remember there was quite some drama when it came out parts for the newer models were made in China. (The horror and betrayal!)
I'm always surprised just a color can make such a difference; some are more expensive just because of that. And for a stainless steel model (same product) you can pay up to 300 Eur more. Seems to be the same for that 600 pro model, just move the mouse arrow over the colors: http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KP2.../dp/B0002Y5X9W

Jstar, I see the 600 pro on sale on Amazon for a lot less than the OP's asking price, but that is in the USA, of course. I don't know what it sells for around here, if its even available.
I wonder if the OP bought one and stuck it in her container in hopes of making a killing once in-country. Just idle speculation; I don't even know if the OP is even in Indonesia.
