I was wondering why foreigners arent allow to come to Aceh for any humanitarian mission. However when I remember the info came from Warung Kupi and When Dan said

Now I know why such a rule exists

Disintergration ,Its like Killing someone diagnosed with cancer with a set of perspective that
    ' he'd die anyways'....

Disintegration will creates benevolent impacts since new disintegrated countries are weak in all kinds of aspects-Infrastructures, human resources, country resources, country control systems- and will be highly vulnerable for another giant corporates silent colonizations....
Your post assumes that the Acehnese will be exploited. It reads like this: May as well let somebody exploit you.

The Acehnese had stable governance (not necessarily fair or wise governance, but governance none the less) for centuries before some European coined the term Indonesia and later when the fever of nationalism swept over the archipelago. Why, by this logic we'd all have been better off just remaining a Dutch colony. We're only going to end up screwing everything up anyway, right?

Indonesia is hardly a model for providing services of ANY kind, so Aceh independence would be a lateral move at worst and a huge improvement at best.

If Aceh or Papua were dustbowls with their main export being basket weaving, we wouldn't be having this conversation. They would have long ago been allowed to go their separate ways. But the reality is that these places have great geological wealth and the house of cards that is Indonesia can't run without exploiting that. Java needs Aceh and Papua, but do Aceh and Papua need Java?

    Nope.

Well, besides your reference to it being a gold-sh!tting donkey and therefore interesting for RI to keep, I don't think anyone in the world (except some countries in the Middle East perhaps), is interested in creating another Pakistan or even Afghanistan. Don't forget that from other countries' perspective, Indonesia is a rather moderate state (and more trustworthy than a Saudi Arabia) so a status quo is preferable.

Having lived in Papua for a number of years it's still horribly sad to see just how the the money that is provided from Central Government could really improve the lives of people. From what I understand the budget for each Bupati is in the order of US$20 million a year. That certainly explains the luxury 4WD vehicles (including Hummers), Jet Boats and palatial mansions while the most basic of services fall into disrepair.

Millions of dollars needs to be spent on runway improvements in Papua and supposedly a separate US$135 million fund has been allocated for just that purpose but undoubtedly very little of that will end of being used to make the improvements we desperately need.
As I've said before, if the Papua problem is just a matter of development (I don't think it is), is the Indonesian state--judging from its record even in the inner islands--well equipped and credibly prepared to bring that about? In Papua, Indonesia has painted itself onto the corner of a rigid nationalism and the harga mati, and an ineffective and corrupt state. That money to the city elites is to co-opt them and buy a loyalty that should come at no cost if the rhetoric of Indonesian nationalism and the integration of Papua is to be believed.

That is why I'm eager to know the answers from Expats bosses and engineers who worked here for quite some time. Better if these expats are located or used to worked at Aceh Area. Question is, would they'd be willing to hire Local people or outsider for jobs they needed ? If the answer is others and based on Ethnicity-wise, question is, why ?

These workers cant come up with assumptive answers....they dont creates assumptive results.... reasons must be based on something....

So sorry to say, life itself is a jungle. If you have a nice hot wife and keep abusing her and dont know how to treat her well, dont blame her if she fall for another guy. This stipulation, of course, wont work under Talibanism system.....

Maybe its not really the fault of central government/outsider who took the most of Aceh....
Maybe it is because the Acehnese themselves, cant take full advantages of their own land....

Lets start somethin simple, why dont attract European tourists by making a free ganja smoking zone somewhere around Aceh ?
Thats business, and thats money generator too. Aceh is now a special territory. Haram ?? Gambling is also haram at Malaysia, but look at how they manipulates the rules for their own benefit
