Default Indonesian looking to make UK visit visa (no sticky anywhere, please check my list)

Would be good if there was some kind of sticky somewhere, but then again everyone's circumstances are different so maybe not that useful

    Basic facts:

Been together with my gf now officially for almost 7 months, been unofficially together for 1 month before that, and just friends for about 1 month before that. we are lets say very serious. we have officially lived together for 2 months, and unofficially (practically) living together for 2 months before that. she still has her own place though, lease due to expire in November.

I have invited her to come to London for 2 weeks over Christmas / new year and she said she'd love to. but she does not have the kind of funds to do it all by herself, so i am sponsoring her

first we'll be staying in a hotel, then a few days over Christmas day period with my parents, then finally back in a hotel again.

my return flights are booked as i'm working before a week she's scheduled to come out, hers are not, nor are the hotels - i know that booking that before hand is the wrong thing to do, and can also look bad (presumptuous).

This is the list of documents i'm going to start putting together in my huge file all neatly organized (which i put together myself, didnt swipe from another site), in this order (i will use his/her instead of our names). my question to the board is have i missed anything or what else could i add to help our cause?

    Introduction & Application

    • Her statement (reason why she wants to come to the UK, and discuss a little about our relationship and history together, and plans for the future, and why she will return)
    • His letter of sponsorship (pretty much the same kind of thing but a little more focused on the financial side perhaps to show support)

    Section 1: Key documentation

    • Original Passport. Plus previous original Passport
    • ID Card Copy (with English translation)
    • Driving License Copy (with English translation)
    • Copy of Birth Certificate (with English translation)
    • Employment History, Previous employment references, full CV etc
    • Original Bank book & bank statements
    • Original university letter of acceptance
    • Original University fee receipts
    • Letter from university head to say that she has passed her exams and will get her BSc this November
    • Copy of Wall Street Institute contract
    • Letter from Wall Street Institute consultant reference and grade status etc
    • Letter from xxxxxxxxx sports captain reference

    Section 2: His Key documentation

    • Full Passport no.1 Copy
    • Full Passport no.2 Copy
    • KITAS Copy (valid until sep 2013)
    • CV
    • copy of british security clearance

    Section 3: His Financial documentation

    • Letter of employment from employer (Director)
    • Copy of employment contract
    • Salary slips and local visa agent invoices
    • 6 months full bank statements (have to print online i guess)
    • Savings account records (online print out?)

    Section 4: Accommodation documentation

    • Copy of our current Tenancy agreement in our names
    • Copy of Tenancy agreement (previous location) with letter from landlady that she knows Her and that we have practically been living together for x-amount of time etc
    • Letter from His parents regarding stay over Christmas period for a few days, and their blessing
    • Proposed hotel accommodations pre and post Christmas period (my research and quotes etc)

Section 5: Evidence of continued communications.

    • old Hotel bills & reservations with supporting flight itinerary print outs to date with our names on it etc
    • Photographs (with notes of where and when they were taken)

Section 6: Other supporting documentation to our application.

    • Letter of employment and character reference (my line manager and friend of over 5 years, worked around the world with, and who knows Her quite well)
    • His return flights ticket confirmation and proposed tickets / dates for Her
    • Her sister' letter of reference (she knows me well enough, i was at her tiny 10 person wedding)
    • Her medical records / report (whatever we can get, to show She is healthy)
    • Her police report / clean record (we will figure out how to get this... probably ask on here! ha)
    • all above translated

Hi there. My girlfriend is submitting her documents tomorrow.

There is a thread similar to this one (search under girlfriend and uk visa I think). Anyway, your list seems extremely comprehensive and you have worried me compared with what we are submitting lol (you can see in the thread mentioned above what we've prepared). We have the added worry of her being a university student and no personal income but we have been together for 2 and a half years. The level of information required just for a holiday is ridiculous. I'll let you know how we get on, but to give you some peace of mind, I think you'll be ok ... sorry that doesn't really help you :-). If we get approved, you certainly will and i'll keep you posted.

I would add one more thing to the list for her, the family card, showing she has family here, and any property papers showing the family own property, if available.

Family card is a must, it was one of the things that was listed as a reason to reject my wife'sfirst application.
Also a letter from your parents stating they will also support her while she is in the UK.

We didn't submit this but she did submit her birth certificate which presumably does the same thing i.e. proves who her parents are. Based on your comment though, I think the OP should submit both if available.

She can list in her letter her family that are here, her nieces and nephues that she would like to see again. but to be fair, the reason to return is basically to not screw up our chance of another visa in the future. who knows in a years time we might get married and want a settlement visa, unlikely as i want to get her an internship in London and do a work visa that route. but who knows.

she does not own any property. her mum lives in bali and has a house and land there, but i don't think they have that much contact anymore. her dad lives at her sisters house and sisters house is rented. her other sister is married to a chinese and lives in her husbands house. that's that.

any tips on what to do regarding the mum? i was going to get a letter from both sisters, as they know me and live in jkt. never met the mum and she just told me (as i was asking her who in her direct family have house/land) shes not close with mum so obtaining such property papers etc in this period of time sounds pretty impossible.
pretty crazy as its just a 2 week holiday, injecting much needed money into the UK economy.

Also a letter from your parents stating they will also support her while she is in the UK.
They won't be supporting her while we're in the UK. I will be. we're only staying with them for 4 days over xmas day and that is me pandering to their request. i'd personally rather stay in a hotel the whole time as i'm allergic to their cat. in fact i'm thinking to take that off of the list entirely as my parents have got nothing to do with it and we're not relying on them for anything. we could technically stay in a hotel for the whole 2 weeks and i was just adding pieces of paper to the application (references etc) but in all fairness would it even benefit? maybe just confuse the situation? how about remove it? any tips welcome - as they will not be supporting her

    any tips welcome

It would seem odd for my father to fully support my girlfriend whilst we're there so the wording we used was less about full support and more about being able to accommodate and look after us both whilst we're in the UK. My letter, however, does say that I will be fully supporting her financially. The Immigration office want to see either hotel bookings or a letter from the people you are staying with. I'm not sure it matters which as long as you provide one.

why would they want to see hotel bookings though when on the british embassy website it says Do Not book flights or hotels until you have an approved visa. as it would be a waste if the visa is not granted.

i'm not going to book 8 nights in a 3 star then 5 nights in a 5 star if they end up rejecting the visa.

Yep you're right. I'm just regurgitating what's in the guidance notes. The joke of it is, you could make a booking subject to payment and presumably that would be enough.

I've made the mistake of deciding to visit a friend in Amsterdam on the way so have all this twice (with the Schengen Visa) but can't apply for that without the UK Visa. Wish I'd not bothered.
