Hello everyone Im just someone doing some research on possibly moving down to Indonesia after I finish my two years I have left in the army. My main interest that started me down to road to looking into Indonesia is I am very eager to study Pencak Silat and indulge my self in the culture of the country so if anyone is also a martial artist let me know thank you

i found the pencak silat community meet on sunday at taman mini actually ..

thanks for the info Im want to make a trip down out there next year but as yet im doing research about the country as a whole how long have you lived in jakarta

For Pencak Silat, you can search PGB Bangau Putih in Bogor, West Java, about 1-2 hours trip from Jakarta.

Hi there , welcome to the forum.
I am reliably informed that Pencak Silat is Sundanese**... and the best place to learn it is in Bandung... its home.
I know that there is a group nearby because I hear their drums regularly.
My friend is trained up in this art, however he is just about to head off to Dubai for the next 2 years.
Maybe when you get here properly he will be back. I am pretty sure he would be willing to do private tuition- he rarely turns down cash

...
I do know a few folks who are trained up in it but they are peripheral in my life... I can dig about and find some more information for you though.

im a martial arts enthusiasm. this far indonesia have these:

Silat merpati Putih (barehands, self defends attack human vital)
Silat Cingkrik (betawi, jakarta)
Silat Harimau (West Sumatra)
Tarung Derajat
Seni Pernapasan Satria Nusantara

The deadliest is Tarung Derajat.
