Question South African relocating from Korea to Karawaci

    Hi all,
I am a South African married to a Korean guy. We will relocate to Karawachi in January 2013 and I have lots of questions, but will browse the forum before starting to post them... We will be moving with our 6 months old baby girl, a cat and two birds (if I can find a decent pet relocation service^^). I teach English at a University in Korea and am also currently in the 2nd year of a MA in Applied Linguistics. Any other Saffas on this board? And any expats in Karawaci here that I can bounce ideas with and who are willing to answer lots of questions? I am a bit apprehensive - I haven't even visited Indonesia and now find myself moving there! Eeeek!

    Welcome.

There is a lot of information here, if you know where to look.
The pets bit I know is here somewhere, I seem to remember it is quite complicated and expensive, if you search you will find it.
    Will you be teaching here?

Hi Jim, thanks. Not sure if I'll be teaching. I think initially I would just like to focus on getting settled. The baby and MA takes a lot of my time, but that being said in Korea I teach (although it's a 'full-time' gig it's only 11 hours week) plus I have 2 little home businesses. So perhaps I'll get bored of settling in soon and then I would like to do some teaching/tutoring, but I suspect it might be tricky on a South African passport. Why do you ask?

For that very reason, because it can be tricky, and then all sort of visa issues pop up. I also have a 6 month old baby girl, I know how hard it is to be away from them and rely on someone else to take care of them.

Welcome. Your man won't feel too foreign in Karawaci, there are lots of Koreans there.
