    Default Asbun/Asal Bunyi/Asal Nyeletuk

    I have been told of
    Asbun/Asal Bunyi/Asal Nyeletuk.

I am not clear about the meaning and how to use these.

Asbun/Asal Bunyi/Asal Nyeletuk (I think) they are used when a person says something completely unrelated to the topic "you were just talking about"
or completely unrelated in response to a question or even a stupid comment that completely out of context...

Asal (in this context; it does have other meanings) = to do something for no reason other than to just do it

Bunyi = to make a sound

Nyeletuk (from celetuk) = to make an abrupt sound / to interrupt

So Asal bunyi means to make a sound for no real reason.

It's used in response to someone who makes a remark unrelated to the topic, or when they sound off about something they know nothing about.

    For example:

Kalau nggak tahu, nggak usah asbun

If you don't know, there's no use in making a remark.

Nggak usah asbun. Pikir dulu, baru omong.

Don't sound off. Think first, then speak.

Is this something you have heard a lot? I have never heard this.

asbun is asal bunyi, usually people would say 'ah lo asbun' because something you have said is ridiculous as if you speak without really considering it. sometimes it might be offensive and annoying, but it could also be a joke that lightens the room.
like for instance : (the rude one)
i said: my boss just got divorce
asbun people might responds: "oh ya? good lah she's too pretty to be married that soon .. " or" good now i have the chance to do her" ..

or funny one (usually funny for others but not for the victim)
    girl : am i pretty?
asbun boy : yeah if i close my eyes.

Well, it is quite lot used in Indonesian people's conversation..
You need to add your Indonesian friends & join to more native conversations ^^

    "Asbun" stands for "Asal Bunyi"
The meaning: You dont know about what you talk, both not based on your feeling or any basic fact.

    "Asbun lo", said someone.
"You are talking nonsense", said someone.

Lo >> elo (slang word for "you")
