Does anyone in here collect action figures? especially Hot Toys

From time to time, I used to keep a small collection of two to four of pretty figures for hot action back when I was single in Jakarta. Does that count?

I have found them on the internet and they are called greedy ni**er boy money boxes they were produced from 1890 to 1920 and are listed as one of the worlds most racist toys they are not worth much fro what i can deduce on the net - maybe $100 each tops so i will keep them as they crtainly make for a politically incorrect talking point and also i think they are very interesting from a historical point of view.

I only collect Buddy Christ, and Bluntman and Chronic signed figures.

they are the typical stereotypical big black mama and papa complete with big lips and wide eyes and all the other racist image type appearance (remember there were no blacks in the UK at that time).

Having grown up with the original star wars movies and having the figures as a kid but never having as many as I wanted, when the figures got rereleased in the 90,s I started collecting them, I'm not normally nerdy but i even got friendly with the staff and found out when deliverys we're due so I coud get the rarest ones before they even hit the shelfs as there was only a few of some in each shipment, at the time the collector shops were selling some of these ones for five times the price.

I kept them all boxed and in mint condition packed away, few weeks ago I thought I'd see what there worth and even considered getting rid of a few, I was even a bit excited about cashing in.

So i went online to do some research....mmmmmm wasn't good news...they are pretty much worth what I paid for them, a couple worth double triple the price, offcourse there s the odd ones that are worth thousands, but offcourse I don't have those.

Offcourse what was rare locally in Australia often wasn't so rare in USA and what was rare in USA most likely never ht our shores so with the Internet and eBay ect the goal post have kind of moved.

Oh well maybe I will keep them for our future kids or something.

Ooh, you're right.. Many vintage figures have higher selling prices, like you said in eBAY... Star Wars is one of the popular movies in this world, so the hype is still high and then the price of figures from this movie will keep on rising. Hot Toys also produces Star Wars figure.
If you decide to keep those for your future kids are really more like a "Precious Heritage" for your kids ^^
