Default reasearch or university job in Indonesia???

    Dear all,
My name is Rebecca and I'm planning to move in Indonesia next summer. My boyfriend is Indonesian and already has a job there. The problem is how can I find a job too. I know that it is very difficult for expats to find a job in Indonesia but I wanted to ask about indonesian universities and what's the situation there. Are they hiring people for research? Is it possible for the universities to hire expats? Do you know if and where I could find more information in that? Since I have studied biology, I wanted to look what is going on with university/research jobs in Indonesia. I tried to find info online but I wasnt very successful.
    Any help appreciated!
    Thanks a lot!
    Greetings,
    Rebecca.

I suppose you have already found out that jobs for which there are Indonesian candidates are generally not open to foreign workers. I would presume that most jobs at Indonesian universities, especially public universities, can be readily filled by Indonesians. If you have any unique credentials not common in Indonesia, you might narrow your search to jobs where those credentials are required.

it diesn't have to be like that, sometimes they need foreign people for lessons or maybe foreign affairs! Just get in touch with universities and GOOD LUCK, never give up!!!

    Hi Rebecca,

I think the chance for landing a research job universities in Indonesia is quite slim, unless you're a visiting scholars/professors. With your degree in Marine Biology, better chance by trying with international environmental organizations, such as The Nature Conservancy, Conservation International, or some alike. Good luck I am looking for one in public health for my self too.
