Yes, I was a bit surprised to see how young she is and how nicely she sang the song. Very talented girl, and very rare indeed.

Have you ever participated in any Javanese singing competition, Pima ? If you haven't, I'm sure you'll nailed them !

I have a young cousin, he is about 13 yo, and is very good in singing Sundanese song. Lovely lovely voice, more less like yours. He won several contests in Bogor and Bandung.
Words can inspire, thoughts can provoke, but only action can get you closer to your dreams.

I guess it is more of a "club" than a class, as it is open-ended. People enter and leave whenever they want, and it is ongoing. We just call it a "class" sometimes, I'm not sure why. Our teacher doesn't "teach" in the sense of getting up and explaining things, he mostly just models the correct playing or gives a brief explanation of what to do. I actually know a tiny bit of theory/background, but that comes from knowing Westerners like Kitsie Emerson and her husband (Wakidi Hardjo Martoyo) and by reading books. For learning to play Javanese gamelan properly, it's all about observing what teachers do and trying to imitate them. That's very hard for me (but good for my brain), as I only learn visually. Without notation, I am easily lost...
hmmm, that was actually happened to me also. my teacher gave the instruction how to play it. its easier to imitate than learning its technical things. lol...

Ahh, don't sweat it dear. You thank me too much.

Haha, yep i finally watch it! Well ofc i'm really interested. I also love to sing but never had a chance to learn singing Javanese song (a shame, since i'm half Javanese). It's quite different from Sundanese song (which i can sing, a lil bit), and more beautiful and touchy...

It would be really nice if she sang when we had our gamelan session.
