Expats: What is your favourite hangout and where?

If you live in Jakarta Barat, the same owners of Eastern Promise and Caz Bar opened up a place in near Puri Indah Mall called Double Doors. It is a shrunk down version of their other establishments but not bad and close to home. Plus if you are a teacher they have a two for one night. I personally don't make it out much anymore what with the kids and all. But when the wifey and I go out we like Splash and Food Fest in Kemang.

Does anyone know of any bars/clubs in Selatan, Ciganjur area that would have more of a Bule clientele Looking for something more near us where we can get out away from wife's family for awhile. Loosen up and meet some new people.

Ditto about Murphy's owner. There was a time I felt like coming alone to the place with an unsightly look (a local in a T-shirt) only for a glass of beer or two, yet the owner (or at least I was assuming he was the owner, since he looked like attentive to the service at the bar) managed to nod at me anyway, acknowledging my presence there, unlike many other waiters at the other bars who would usually look over the people with my look at the time. Well, I did only spend the night with merely a glass of Guinness there, but that impression led to repeated visits where I would then order food as well, and instead of on an ordinary plate - the one you see in a typical Indo restaurant, I was served a bule portion, I mean it was so much that I could almost not finish it that night - my plate got empty only because the food tasted good. The management may want to serve more menu on the kids portion up until the midnight!

Definitely recommended.
