I'll just add that being "smart and educated", while certainly advantageous and desirable, is not nearly sufficient. Also, "smart" is often conflated with "educated", as in formal schooling and degrees. There are plenty of people out there with degrees and scrolls, but to find a sharp mind and that can pivot of many directions is rather rare indeed, particularly when peoples' mentalities and world view are so largely influenced by suku, agama and a knee-jerk suspicion of foreigners and opinions that may clash with "Asian Values".

yeaah. as you know most people in Indonesia got a bach. degree (in cities). but finding smart,educated,& mr/mrs. right for yourself thats the challenge.

My advice to the OP: Sex is a perfectly acceptable consolation prize when one cannot find love. Have fun; you're only 31, a Western male, in Jakarta. You are in a veritable candy store!
