The iPad is easy to use. I use it for some work things, Internet/browser related mostly. Only for specific applications like Photoshop, and other high end Adobe apps do I have to fire the laptop up.
So far, I only see people using iPad for browsing and playing games. I know it's not as powerful as laptops, but...anyone here use it for work? What kind of work and what apps do you use?

well, i still have to use my laptop and pc as well, ipad and tablets just for supporting devices, especially when i have to go mobile.... but i still see people use it just for fun....yesterday, i watched some cultural performance in JCC and some people recorded and took a photo with ipad, so funny...

Jaime & Lumos, what kind of work do you do on your iPad? I mean is it words and numbers? What are the apps similar to Microsoft Words and Excel? Can you print directly from iPad or you have to transfer the documents into laptop/PC then you print?
Yes, what I meant by working on iPad is when people go mobile. Just like using laptops for work. At home, use laptop/PC to continue what you're working on iPad. I was thinking to buy an iPad so I can do some work while waiting for the boys at their courses. My laptop is too heavy to carry around. Too bad I have to use Photoshop and Corel Draw. :'(
I use all 3 document processing program from apple. Keynote, pages, numbers. I can wirelesly print, do presentation from my ipad. Edit study material/pdf. Playing games, reading news, browsing. I still use my laptop too, this tablet is not a replacement. Simply an add-on
When i have to teach. I can just bring my ipad and if i hv to do last minute editting, the ipad works great. Back at home, the heavy typing and researching duty will go back to my Laptop or pc.
Theres a lot of corel-like application like inkpad ($2) you just hv to be smart too choose
i'd say.. Get it!![]()
To be able to wirelesly print from an iPad, you need an AirPrint-enabled printer. You should be also aware that not all apps support AirPrint.

Wait for the newly launched Microsoft Surface and devices running on Windows 8 RT and Pro and check them out before deciding. They might be suitable to your needs.
deliverypasta & redsnapr:
I've browsed for Pages, Keynote and Numbers. They're compatible with Microsoft Office Docs. So, does it mean I can transfer my work on the iPad to Office programs on my laptop and vice versa? I don't have a MacBook, don't have an AirPrint-enabled printer either. So I have to print the work from my laptop...
I've browsed for Inkpad too. It's $7.99 not $2...But I still have to find out whether the illustration created on Inkpad can be transfered to Photoshop for further design...
Thank you!![]()

I've taken a quick look at Microsoft Surface. Will browse for more information on this. Thank you!![]()
Yes, you can transfer files to/from the iPad and a PC but ... you will loose the formatting when transferring from the iPad to the PC, especially in Numbers, that does not use tabs to separate sheets within a workbook. This lack of tabs in Numbers makes the formatting of the files unreadable in Excel. No problem with single-sheet Numbers/Excel files.
So far I have not encountered any problem transferring files between Pages and Word. I very rarely use PowerPoint or Keynote.
