The Sim Lim stores buy their phones often in the US (like the BB with Verizon), a lot of grey import there.

Look at this store: Mobile Square, Far East Plaza on Scott's road. I think it's number 14 (after ca. 300 meters on the right side when you walk from Orchard). It's on the second floor in the back. Not the absolute cheapest but rather trustworthy.

If you want the cheapest deal (and don't care about the rest): MRT Chinatown, on the other side of New Bridge Road in People's Park on the ground floor (they open rather late)...

Thanks jstar, will check them out. I want the absolute cheapest for the original product. Perhaps SGD650 is a bit too much to ask for, if I was more well versed about cell phones, I might not have any problems buying a locked phone (US or EU bound?) and get it unlocked later.

But I ould rather pay more for peace of mind and getting the right product. So unless I can beat the price of oke shop in jakarta (cash) then I will wait until I get back to jkt.

    Thanks all!

The Note 2 that Hombre was talking about and which should appear in October, is somewhat slimmer and taller than the previous Note; it has dimensions which are not so far apart anymore from the Galaxy S3 (which has grown compared to the S2); the Note 2 will be 1.5 and 1 cm taller/wider. Their screen technologies are identical and so is the processor (but clocked higher on the Note 2: 1.6 instead of 1.4 Mhz). The Note 2 will run Jelly Bean (Android 4.1).

Thought the Note 2 would be positioned underneath the flagship S3 but looking at the specs it should even be better! Wonder what the price will be...

So then an interesting kit for me would/could be the Note 2 in combination with the Note 10.1 (a perfect match for an iPhone 5 and iPad 3 combo). But only if data transfer would be easy between the applications (to refine the sketches at home on the bigger screen).
