    Default Telkomsel Flash -

Wondering if anyone can help? Just bought a USB internet dongle from Telkomsel in the Roxy Mall - which is a long way away from where I am. And I may struggle to get the support I need if I take it back. It was 400rp for a 3 month unlimited connection. The guy activated it for me, changed the language settings ready to plug and play.

But, you guessed it, it wasn't that easy! Plugged it in and everything seemed to install ok.

    I get a message saying...

A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection.

    With the following buttons.

    Redial, Cancel

I've tried under the 2 options (the first I think is likely to be the one I purchased):

    TSEL-BROADBAND (Volume Based-Unlimited)
    TSEL-TIMEBASED

It appears to have a full signal (see screenshot attached).

Anyone experienced the same or have any ideas how to solve it? I'm new to Jakarta, and speak no Bahasa (yet).

I've tried the website, but my Bahasa is limiting me figuring out where even the support pages could be.

The apartment I am in has wired internet, but they are unable to fix a problem which prevents me sending email from my UK account. So I wanted a separate connection which I know has worked in the past when I've used similar USB internet dongles in the UK.

I really need this setting up because I send a newsletter to a couple of hundred people using Outlook, and need that ability again pretty quickly!

    Thanks if you can help!

News flash Ian Telkomsel Flash Sucks the big one.

Even if you got online your connection would be that great. Personally i would consider changing it to another provider or go to any closer computer shop with your laptop and get them to set it all up for you in the shop which they would be happy to do for a nominal fee.

We used it for 6 months, and it worked ok for us. My wife set it up, I'd be useless setting it up. Speed really depended on where you're located. I know you had to add pulsa/money for a certain plan first, and then dial up, and log in to connect. Once set up it was fairly easy. We were paying 100k for one month, with 1gb. Expensive. The unlimited part was a bit of a scam, once you hit the 1gb, the speed was circa 1982 300 baud dialup.

Oh no! Wish I'd known! Well I'd maybe switch to another provider but it's a shame to flush the thing down the toilet before I've even had any use from it. I'm pretty high up so think I should get a good signal.

So there's hope? Just wish I could figure out how to get it to connect. Anyone else had any experiences of setting it up or know someone who could help get support?

Yes there is hope the plan you have is time based you have paid for it so just set it to time based. try it on another laptop see if that works if it works there youe system need to have a service turned on.

I have had the best luck with ESIA they all limit how fast you get the data, if you want fast you need to get a GB limit not a time limit.

    Example:

One month unlimited will limit you to 100kbs download, so its not really unlimited ya.

10gb plan will give you 10gb no limit. If you use it in a month or 2 days its up to you.

i think you may check your dongle configuration by viewing the captured image on previous blog link from marcus. Most of them have same format configuration.
to check data access availability on your Telkomsel simcard, you can try to send sms "UL INFO" to 3636.
SMS reply written in bahasa, but there are 2 primary information you can get. First is remaining quota and the second is due date.

i'm using Telkomsel for 2 years on my tablet and i'm happy using it

    hopefully could help
