Default Where can i buy inexpensive wine in Jakarta?

    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy inexpensive wine in Jakarta.

I heard there is a wine from Bali, Hatten, but I'm not sure where to buy it.

    Thank you

The short answer, and I don't intend to be controversial, is there is no cheap wine that is credible in Indonesia. The taxes and duty and sin-costs push the price into the clouds.

Hatten wine is readily available in Bali, where it is made. It costs Rp250,000 for a 2 litre box and I'm drinking the red as I write (also comes in rose or puteh)...it is like S.A. wine...it ferments in the stomach and stains one's teeth....but beggars cannot be choosers.

Sorry, don't know how to source in Jakarta. I remember a hearty contributor here (Cibubur, I think) who had many cases land-shipped by Tiko or something but I think she resigned from the forum over a dispute, so her good information is lost.

Depends...did you mean South African, South Australian or South American?
Or San Antonio? Saudi Arabia? Sexaholics Anonymous?

Anyway, wine is good for you; better than an aspirin every day.

Didn't Hatten win some awards btw?

Hattens have a "Cellar Door" outlet in Kemang. Jalan Benda, about 3 shops from Mo's ribs.

I'd rather not buy any Balinese wine for drinking purposes. They're simply horrible.
    Kind regards

Again it appears that my response has been censored, which is a pity, as I gave very good information on Hatten wine and aspirin.

This was the only information of any note in the now deleted post:

"Hatten wine may have won awards...mine is...most affordable in Bali."

back to topic...I find Hatten Red and Rose quite tolerable as a quaffing wine as it is lower in alcohol than French/Australian/Chilean wines. The Hatten White I find is more like juice than wine....just an opinion.

Haven't seen any aspirin joke. But for those who wonder about the link: Aspirin would make the blood thinner, which is good for avoiding strokes. A glass of (for instance) red wine every day has a similar effect. Also, it is believed that resveratrol has a positive influence. Use with moderation of course.
