Default Need Advice for Accommodation in Jakarta

I attended JIS from '85-'89. I don't remember much and I'm sure things have changed a lot since then.

Would like to get some advice on where is the "expat part" of town; the ideal place to live given my office will be at Menara Jamsostek and my 2 yr old son will be in the early childhood program at JIS.

Also, the monthly rental rate for 3-bedroom house or condo/apartment. It's just the 3 of us + housekeeper(s).

    Thanks in advance!

    Default some advice

The two areas which might interest you are Pondok Indah for close to JIS or Kemang for the main expat area. I do not know the prices for those areas. Bintaro is too far and too traffic for JIS.

if you say JIS, some recommendation for you

look for either, Cilandak, Cipete, Terogong, or Pondok Pinang area so it wont be difficult for you to drop off your children to JIS
or if you prefer to stay in between JIS and Menara Jamsostek, you can look for Panglima Polim / Barito / Wijaya area

the area i mention above easy to find restaurant and markets

well then, Jakarta become very crowded day by day, so you might want to get used to the very heavy traffic.

    Best Regards

PS: u might want to look for Hamptons Park Apartment. just across the JIS price range about 1500$++ per month for 2 bedroom apt.

or if your budget is higher, you might want to try Pondok Indah golf apartment, it has a choice of 2, 3 or 4 bed room apartment cost around 3000$++ to 5000$ per mo, furnished.

of you can look for some houses around pondok indah you can get around $3500 per month

That is misleading. The smaller of the two JIS elementary school campuses, Pattimora, is in Kebayoran. It's hard to get a slot there, however, because it has fewer slots to begin with. The larger elementary school is in Pondok Indah.
