Raja Ampat, West Papua looks amazing! I want to rent one of those bungalows right on the water...but i read that you need to take an airplane from Jakarta? Are most places only accessible by a plane? What about driving from Jakarta to X?

if you're serious, you've to book soon, all water villa are almost fully booked from October to mid Dec. Fully book from mid to end Dec. Other more expensive villa still available starting from Euro 2200/pax/week package, excluding diving or snorkeling package.
you can fly from Jakarta to sorong with express air, sriwijaya, batavia or lion air. Indeed take 5 - 8 hours, then another 4 hours by boat to misool.
Raja Ampat is getting very popular now. We contacted LOB, and all of them are fully booked on December 2012.
We will stay in a budget resort on kri island, a bamboo hut, no aircon, shared bathroom, no hot water - still cost us more than Euro 5K for 4 pax per week.

i can guarantee you this one:

For cheap one--> try Karimun Jawa, very nice
nice coastline, nice under water view.
IMHO, for under water view, Karimun better than Gili
But for entertainment and coastline, Gili is better.

Or you also can try Derawan island n Mentawai.Very nice!
anyway, for RAJA AMPAT, definitely THE BEST.

Beach looks good. But with more than 20 people over a 200 meter stretch you can hardly call it desolate.
