Thread: Openbox Indovision Setup problem

    Thanks Bali88
Erm, a bit more, it's more than twice the price, of course for a clone Dreambox.

The real one will set you back over 400 Euro's!!!

The 800HD would probably also do, the only difference I think is DVI instead of
HDMI, so if it's DVI I would need an extra cable for audio.
Oh and maybe the images are older.
The Old 800 has a price of around 1.2-1.4 Juta, the se 2.3 or so.
I paid 875.000 for the Openbox, it wasn't a bad deal, but then it should have worked
100% and it has very old firmware on it.
The dreambox is just so much better, much better and nicer UI, integrated HD option
instead of USB, this also means full HD recording, mine was 1080i and can't record
HD, only SD, and there are so many images and plugins, Openbox has none.
I could've ordered one from an online store from east java(kingsparabola), but was
reluctant to do so, should have since they are reliable I think.
In a couple of weeks I go to Singapore, I will probably drop over the border into JB
to see a friend, there is also a store there which also sells them.
Edit: I have to be careful though, Sg does not allow Sat stuff to be imported and I most
    probably fly out of Sg.
I might exchange this one for a Skybox and buy a dreambox there, then share the card
from the dreambox to the Skybox.

    Cheers Perry

    Update.
In the end it didn't work, the seller did his best to help but found out that
even in a Skybox S12 it won't work and that one is newer.
So, today My girlfriend gave a call, I can send it back, get my money back
which astounds me(less 50.000 which is Ok).

So Bali88, if you are there, it's 100% sure to work on a dreambox, what I
mean is, it will 100% work with a Indovision card?
Have you ever heard of Kings-parabola, are they reliable, I think I can trust
them, if I can order here why bother buying one in Malaysia.

EDIT : I actually went back to a reply in a similar Topic, You already
    answered that question, it works.

    Thanks Perry

I am a bit lost at people who Buy a suscprition for Indosat or whatever, as far as I know these programmes are free all you need is a universal LNG and a Bowl and a digital reciever
please correct me if I am wrong, as I was in germany I had 2000 programmes + all free using 2 sats, is it not the same in Asia?
You can pick up the parts to make all this for under 600 RMB in china

    Sadly the answer is NO
I am originally from Europe and there are lots of Satellites there and 1000s of free channels.
Dependable on where you are in Asia you can get more or less channels.
Here in Indonesia there aren't that many Satellites in the reception (beams) area, probably
only a few that you can receive with a "small" dish, but if you want a bit more then you need
a BIG dish, something like 2-3 meters.
The ones that you can get FTA channels on are mostly on those big dishes.
The other ones are mostly encrypted.
Lots of them are Chinese, thai or whatever language I can't understand.
For card sharing you need a reliable internet connection, in Jakarta for instance you can get
decent Cable internet, I live in Bandung(big city- but no Cable internet and ADSL is more
    expensive than 3G
), a 3G connection is the easiest and cheapest way to get internet, but it
will loose it's connection more then a couple of times a day.
I do have a 3G router, TP-Link MR3420 and it will automatically reconnect but it takes time
    and it's annoying.
There are servers here and if I want I can get one here, but it is probably too difficult for
my girlfriend when I am not here once in a while.
Indovision, the one I use isn't too expensive and if I buy a subscription I can share that one
to the second TV and also record and freeze the picture and have a few HD channels.
It's not like in Europe at all, Europe is easy, this is Asia Man!
There are a few exceptions, Singapore for instance is working well, but you are not allowed
to have a satellite dish there, it's illegal.
You should check out lyngsat and check out the sats in between 105 and 120 degrees, you will
see there isn't that much, check out the EIRP, you'll need big dishes for most of them.
The Satellite I am on is not even C or Ku or k band, it's S band, reason, no problem losing
signal when there is a lot of rain, and it can rain hard and a lot here.
The LNB head is about 15 cm diameter, can't even put two on one disk and there are no
dual, quad LNB available, I checked the internet, they don't exist.

Oh, yeah, parts from china, easy in Europe, we have to pay too much of a import tax here,
I can get the stuff here if I want, cheaper than importing it, but I have to go to Jakarta for
it, buying online in Indonesia is still in it's infancy and corruption and stealing parcels is
    common.
