I think it's not really possible.....most of SG population is chinese, and it cant be that no chinese will eat the shark fin...
From Yahoo! Singapore.
Think shark fin eating can be banned in whole Asia esp. the Chinese-speaking countries, the bastion of shark fin eaters?

Not until somebody got food poisoning from shark fin consumption as it has happened to bird nest consumers last year. This incident decrease the demand dramatically and drop the nest local price from around US$2,000 per kilo to less than US$400. There is no more bird nest business frenzy. Many are trying to stay away from bird nest business now.
We can only hope. I read yesterday that the Chinese government have said they will stop serving Shark Fin Soup at government dinners/banquets etc, if that's true, it's a great step forward.
would raising prices of shark fin lead to MORE consumption (as would be considered a status symbol... that would eventually turn into poo) or would it lead to LESS consumption (as it wouldn't be worth it anymore)?
i stayed at a hotel in Kalimantan once and i THINK i saw "sirip hiu" on their menu. and this wasn't even a fancy hotel. i wonder if it was real (or mock fin, like tofu-based vegetarian "meat" you see at Indian restos all the time). can you even fake shark fin? does mock shark fin even exist?
