I didn't have same experience Teena. My mother was(is) a housewife and I am very close to her. We live in different countries and miss eachother too much. I had full time job in my country for 5 years. I had a daughter during that time. Working and doing housechore was difficult for me and made me tired but I enjoyed working and learning new things and meeting new people. Now after 4.5 years leaving my job, I am not sure that it was the best choice for me and my kids to stay at home and spend time with them.I like reading books, learning languages, cooking new cuisines,.. but I feel the lack of progress in my skills during the past 4 years and life becomes boring for me. Maybe working moms are happier than staying home moms. Now I think quality of time with kids is more important than quantity.By the way I should monitor the nanny. So I can not leave home for a long time.

my mom is a home-based entrepeneur.
She started as a seamstress, then she opened up a beauty salon (plus bridal), and catering business.
Now, she's concentrated more on her catering business while my cousin takes over the bridal.
I was just disscussing that option with my husband last night. I would choose baking and catering business as that is what I grew up with.
Mine is a hobby turned to moneyI create accessories/jewelry/craft from beads, then market them via internet.
Currently it's still a part time job, I'm still on the 8 to 5, but I'm planning to make it a full time job later on in life..

I found a website about working as affiliated marketer for clickbank. Has any ladies in this forum tried working in affiliated marketing as a home-based job?It seems that it doesn't need face to face sale. It is all internet based.

Thanks for the helpful information. I don't have a blog yet but I like to have one and I enjoy writing and doing research. I have some subscribers to my public posts in facebook . I joined a network marketing(direct selling) bussines 10 months ago when I started this thread. One of the forum members introduced it to me.I found it difficult to advertise the products face to face but this way of marketing is more suitable for my character.

Home based aren't the best way to go if you are married to an ex-pat really. What you need to create is a business that is portable so you don't have to start over every-time you relocate.
I enjoy both writing and photography and have found ways to build residual income with both. Writing article for print media, internet site, and other sources. Photography, same as with writing, often going hand and hand. Nice thing about articles and photography going together is that they are easier to sell. Editors are more likely to polish a piece that has all pieces than not.
With my photography I also license my images via stock photography sites. Living overseas helps with this. I can see things in Indonesia that are so common to Indonesian that they don't notice them, but I also am here long enough to meet people who show me the nooks and carnies of this great country.
Depending on what you did for living at home, you may be able to telecommute too.
My two cents

I run a small soapmaking (and more) business from home. I'm also an Independent Distributor for Herbalife. I love both and happy it gives me more time with my family and especially our 6 month old...^^ There are loads of things you can do, but you should find something you enjoy and that you can control - it's easy for a sucessfull home business to get out of hand.![]()
