The Innova is new as well, but I bought a leftover of the prior model -- big discount, no waiting.
I looked at this new car today...it is the latest top model in the Avanza line-up with a 1.5 engine; ABS brakes and a better suspension system. The styling is also nicer than my 2 year old model.
At Rp 180.200,000 for the A/T version, I thought it was good value and ordered one.
The sales girl told us it will be delivered next August.
Jeez...thats a long time to wait.......so I guess it must be very popular.

What new about them?
Really like its Daihatsu sibling. Saw them both at KG mall.
Innova bit too big for me.
But Honda Freed with sliding doors isn't bad either, with its pilot seats.

Not much. The big difference in the Innova is the V model comes with a DVD player in a center roof console. The drive train, from the glossy handouts, seems to be unchanged. The salesman pointed out some differences in the front grill, but I would not have noticed without his prompting. (I suspect the LV bag crowd can tell the difference at 100 yards.)
Anyway mine is already scratched up, so I guess we are stuck with it.
Avanza is very popular. I bought a second hand avanza for 90mill, sold it for 114mill 2 mos later. I couldnt stand thinking somebody elses used the car before.. Got a new avanza for 126mill, sold it for 131mill 6 mos later.. Yea.. This time.. Because i decided to drive myself. Imagine me driving an avanza.. no way!.... But it's a good reliable car, good in petrol, and hold it's value.
This seems common here. The "all-new" models are not new at all. Some old thing with new cosmetic plastics.
Jstar...I also looked at the Honda Freed because I like that sliding door but I can buy 2 Avanza's for the same price....apples and oranges. Price, for me, is more important than the feature.
Agreed....the Innova is a bit big and also looks pedestrian...hopefully, they will change the styling soon and the Innove Kijang, as we know it, will become a dinosaur car.
I believe all Toyotas in RI are manufactured at the Diahatsu plant...they are the same Company...different badges. The Avanza Veloz model is not in the Daihatsu line-up......it must be some marketing strategy that I don't get. Why market 2 similar cars, from the same company and attempt to hoodwink the customer about quality and price. To me, it makes no sense...maybe its an Japanese thing...brand names are a big deal in Japan.
They do that for the Rush/Terios also. I don't think anyone is hoodwinked.
