If you find some place selling pork adobo, please tell.
As most of you know that Jakarta has a large population of Filipino, and Nigerian expats. Are there any notable restaurants in Jakarta that sell Filipino or Nigerian food (sate domba africa doesn't really count.) It could be great to eat some suya or adobo while chugging down teh botol.
If you find some place selling pork adobo, please tell.
There's a Filipino restaurant in Sudirman, just can't remember where exactly. I had Beefsteak Tagalog there and I thought it was good. I don't think they have pork adobo on the menu, though. I'll ask where it is and get back to you. There should be at least 2 Fil restaurants in Jakarta. There's also one outlet of Chowking here.
The Filipinos I know here (including myself) make our own pork/chicken adobo as we can get all the ingredients. I have yet to find a restaurant (even Chinese) that serves the pork variety on site.
I heard Lechon can also be ordered in Jakarta.
You can go to FX mall, go to their food court which is in the basement. The restaurant's name is Manila Connexion.![]()
Adobo...the way I make it is easy. salty soy sauce, white vinegar, bay leaf, garlic. Boil the meat until dry and fry in its own fat, add more oil if needed. If you like it wet, that's ok too, take it off while there's some sauce left. But still fry the meat, the crisp bits are the best part.
I miss some of the "pulutans" , like green mango with bagoong, haven't seen anything like this here yet...
@pipo: sadly, you have to bring your own bagoong here.
There is one small stall in Pacific Place at the basement, it sells muffin, but also serve filipino food...... run by a filipino......
@Hendry, yes it is the same one located in FX. Manila Connexion and Muffin HouseThe owners are Filipinos, they've been here for more than 20 years

Everything is just mind over matter. If you don't mind, it won't matter.
