@sebinindo: When you talk about telephone line + speedy + Groovia for 1.1 juta / month is that at Thamrin Residence?

    btw beware Sitra

I'm not even that demanding, just somewhere around 100 KB/s at a reasonable price is enough for me as long as I can download my TV shows at decent speed. And it's Thamrin area too, a major area. All this monopoly is horse crap. Lesson learned. Next time I try to decide on a new address better check who the providers are first. :S

So Funny, now you have Groovia through Memadata, is that correct?

    Btw, in on that petition!
I really hate this provider. My TV signal went bad for the whole week, and my telephone suddenly stopped ringing. I only knew about it after several people complained that I never pick up my phone. The usual reply? Bad wiring. And they refused to answer my call anymore.

I'm marching off to their office again later this afternoon.

@babyrabbit : Actually, it's not groovia. Groovia is cheaper and faster. Hubby refused to use their internet anymore, and used smartfren instead. Funny fact : The Ping cafe downstairs chose to use smartfren instead of the memadata internet. ^^

One of the main reasons I am where I am now and not in Thamrin Residences is that I can get First Media. At first they didn't want to allow me to get it by saying it wasn't possible for technical reasons, but I kept pushing untill they said: Fine, if you can get FirstMedia to put in the cable at your own expense we won't be standing in the way. So I did that (only cost about 500k if I remember correctly) and swoosh, there's my 3 MB/s for 375k/month!

    Hi,

I moved in to Thamrin residence now and their internet offer by cable really sucks, useless pricing. 1 Mbps - 1,5 juta/month!!! 3G with Telkomsel is also not good there, I even go as far as suspecting them of having some 3G data signal jammers to oblige people to take their cable internet.

    But...I got it solved.

Sitra 4G WIMAX with their big "Big Bro" 4G - WIFI device works great. I get around 2-3 Mbps dowload, 700k-1M upload, pay 299k rp per month with a 15Gb fair usage policy. I am sure that with a larger external antenna I can improve the signal and data throughput, but so far not necessary. Bittorrent downloads, streaming video etc all great.

Most Sitra dealers don't have the Big Bro device, only the USB stick, which has poor reception in the residence. I got my device at their booth in Senayan Mall, activated within 2 hours after subscribing it.

The great thing is that I can take the device almost anywhere in Jakarta (needs Sitra coverage), e.g. meetings, and have everybody connect to it by wifi.

    Good luck!

Which level do you live at? Senayan Mall as in Senayan City Mall?

I tried their USB modem at Central Park and it sucks.

now, firstmedia upgraded new product from dlite package (786kbps internet connection) into HD lite package with 2 Mbps, I am quite happy with fastnet cause they give me stable internet connection so far.

Oh, well, we can only dream for the same service here. I just got mad with the provider and plastered a sticker in front of their office to return my calls. XD

I live at level 12 Thamrin Residences.

    Correct, Senayan City Mall.

The Sitra stick is poor, but that's normal given the small size of it's internal antenna.

I am using the "Big Bro" device, now upgraded with an external 16 DBi yagi antenna from wajanbolic, pointing to the SITRA base station, and it works like a dream. SITRA will tell you they only support up to 5th floor, but that's nonsense if you use the right equipment.

    Hi,

I'm just wondering why in the world Thamrin Residence is not allowing the residents to subscribe any other internet service like speedy or First Media just like any other apartment in Jakarta does.
Why is it seems being "arranged" such only ONE internet service provider "Mustika Memadata" that can provide internet service in Thamrin Residence Apartment? Does Indonesia supposed to have a business sector monopoly regulation/law somewhere ?
This is just so annoying, unreasonable, and unaccepted. As resident of Thamrin Residence, we should probably get together sometime and speak out for our complains together and make some kind of proposal/complain letter to the management office or somethin. They are just becoming more and more arrogant if none of us do somethin about it.

And the most weird of all, how come Thamrin Residence doesn't even have any "head" of neighborhood who can coordinate things as well as concern with their residences as how any other place in Indonesia do have one.

Are all these things being made in a way "intentionally" with the purpose of the management office could take profit as much as they can from the residences? Where is the democracy in all this. So ridiculous apartment ever!!!!

I know of one person who managed to fight them and got Firstmedia installed, but he had to pay for the cable installation fee. It's somewhere in this forum as well.

They are real morons and as long as the owners of appartments don't massively oppose them, nothing will happen. Tenants do not matter in that respect.

But then again, as long as they make money, why should they change anything? I somehow think that anybody taking and buying their internet deserve what they get, they opt for the simple way and are willing to pay for it. There are other ways, it is just less simple!
