Default How many percentage of Indonesians in this forum

Reading some of postings here, I guess the percentage is way more than the foreigners.

I've quickly checked. Out of the 60 more prolific posters, 46 are expats and 14 are indonesian which means that the proportion of expats is a bit more than 76%. When it comes to the number of posts written by those 60 most prolific posters the percentage of posts written by expats is then way above 80%. For example, the 10 most prolific posters have written 45160 posts. 40540 of them have been written by expats which equates to almost 90% of the posts!

Depending on the channels you browse, your impression may be different. "Personals" is more "indonesian" than "expat" for example. "Laws, visas, money matters and documents" is almost exclusively "expat". The "personals" channel may also be the one seeing the most "fast disappearing" posters. A few ABG have logged thinking that EF could be a way to fish a foreign husband but have quickly found out that the pond had more ikan hiu than expected.

In July, Expat Forum has recorded close to 70.000 unique visitors for the month, with more than 400.000 page views and coming from most region of the world, with of course Indonesia being the most important, followed by USA and Australia and connections have been recorded from 194 recorded countries. Africa being by far the continent the less represented.
Concerning "unique visitors", I believe that it may have been our "all time best" which confort us in the idea that a tough policy concerning flaming may help to have a more welcoming website, closer to our aim. In the past three years the website has experienced a constant regular growth, thanks to a very helpful community.

This is the second time somebody claims that there are more Indonesians than expats here. Why do you make that statement? If it's true, is it a disappointment to you?

Both time, if I am not wrong, this statement has been made by an Indonesian. A third statement has been made by an expat, nostalgic of the old era of the Expat Forum when courtesy toward other posters was not necessarily an enforced value. The change of software has undoubtedly helped improve the situation.
In my humble opinion WE, expats have a lot to gain through the participation of Indonesians living in or outside Indonesia. It is very important to have their opinion as well as to have the one of expatriate living in Indonesia. The Truth is somewhere right in between both statements.

Personally I am not so fond of the "personals" channel, and if the decision would have been entirely in my hand, I would have scrapped it, along with the "business opportunities" channel which is a refuge for spammers. I have learnt to live with the ABG type of threads and questions. After all, I have a three years old daughter, and two boys aged 7 and 14. Better for me to have an insight on what teen preoccupations are.

However, the statement made by the OP makes me wonder if we have popularised enough the aim of this forum: it exists in order to facilitate the move of expatriates and allow them to ask questions about the daily life here and to deal with any of their concerns. Therefore, as per Rabbit_39's post, I doubt that the question/statement made by the OP is relevant. The real question that one should ask himself/herself is "do we, as a community of members, reach our aim?" and "what can we do to better satisfy it?".

I highly doubt that "less indonesian" in the cocktail preparation would give it a better taste.

I have been around a while, and like many others only came across this site by chance. I know there are many members who only discovered it after years of being here.
What I did find and often pick up are the expat/ english Indonesian newspapers.
I do not know if they have websites, but I am sure that there is quite a large readership of the papers themselves.
Have you ever tried to get the link published in any of them, I am sure that would raise the number of hits even more.
