I think AVG free anti-virus just messed up my whole computer's content

Ahhh I don't miss any of this stuff.
I used to hate all the updates and security stuff and the hanging pages and all the crap associated with PCs & MS and anti-virus.
Your thread just reminded me why I still adore my mac Sophie
After 3 years I just open it up and am almost instantly away with what I want to do. Worth every penny!

what's the best antivirus. I used bitdefender before, because my ex said it's the best antivirus ever, but it didn't do anything good on my computer. Then after it's expired I use smadav, because my friend said that I am in Indonesia now, so I have to be proctected from Indonesian viruses. Beside smadav I also use microsoft essential.

I use Malware Bytes separately for those adware.

Btw how could you get fake goods on the net, where did you download that??

Personally, and others may disagree, the best antivirus out there is NOD32 but it's a paid product. For free products, I tend to recommend Microsoft Security Essentials, Avira Antivir or Avast. I also couple it with COMODO firewall (just the firewall) and OpenDNS.

What do you mean it didn't do anything good? The fact that no viruses hit your machine probably means it did its job.

I second the above. NOD32 probably has the ligtest footprint among the commercial anti-virus products and I've never had a false positive from the software in the time that I have had it (3+ years). I renewed for another year just a month ago. The security suite which includes a firewall is quite a good all inclusive package.

I also agree with Tokek, kinda surprised no one mentioned avast till the fourth page, it has good real-time scanning of executable files and network activity, also scans usb/cd/external drives automatically on insert. Comodo firewall is good too, a little over protective in fact that it sometimes messes with online games.

and don't forget that a rescan in safe mode would be prudent to ensure the machine is really clean, with system restore off.

Shake a bit of coconut water with a shot of lime juice, 2 oz of rhum, orange or pineapple fresh juice and crushed ice : Belum!

My flashdisc was infected by school's computer. Then after that I scanned it with my bit defender but bit defender couldn't detect any virus from my flashdisc. I was pretty sure that my school's computer is infected by viruses because there's no antivirus in it.
