Ranch Dressing - Jakarta

Though I am not really looking for it I had some expats say it isn't possible to find any "good" ranch dressing in Jakarta (or Indonesia for that matter). I have a hard time believing that a place the size of Jakarta does not have it. Has anyone found a major western brands of ranch dressing (Kraft, etc)?

Yes, until this recent devaluation with the IDR against the USD, you could find Kraft, Hidden Valley, Newmans Own and Wishbone dressings, We are preferable to 3 dressings Ceasers, Ranch and Ranch Buttermilk but recently my wife and I have noticed a dramtic decrease of imported food goods such as these and numerous others The imported frozen food was once well stocked but have not seen any new stock of any imported food goods since Lebaran (Oct. 1 and Oct. 2). Not sure if it the devaluing of the IDR and the importers not willing to bring in the goods at that increase in cost but the cupboard is getting bare.

You can always pick anything up in Singapore, pack in you checked luggage and bring it on over on your next trip to the Dictatorship..........

Try Sogo supermarket at Pondok Indah Mall (PIM2), basement level..certainly saw Newmans variety of salad dressings there in mid October, cant remember the price though.

Sogo (Food Hall in Plaza Indonesia, Kelapa Gading and Plaza Senayan), Ranch Market (Pondok Indah and Mampang Store) Kemchicks (Pacific Place) and Caswells on Jl. Kemang Utara.

Where ever you find it is not cheap nor even reasonably priced, cheaper in Singapore. Buy a few bottles of variety and bring it back.

Some enlightenment came today regarding all imported food. Seems the Indonesian Govt. has changed their regulations regarding importing food products which has caught everyone off guard. Thus no real additional imported foods, I assume it is sitting at customs or never left Singapore but this is why, wife and I were in Caswells today and it is a shell of it's former self. Virtually 10% of the imported goods they had before and of what they once had 3 months ago, we were also in Bali Deli in the FX mall on Sudirman but as well samething virtually all imported goodshave dried up but I have to say an excellent beek/pork selections, very professional and clean.

Oh and sorry Newguy, neither place had any real selection of salad dressing much less Ranch. Bali Deli has some Kraft French and some other brand of oil and vinegar dressing, Caswell had no salad dressing whereas they were once the best place to get a wide variety of all salad dressings.

New Guy, found a large quantity of an obscure Blue Cheese salad dressing today in Ranch Market in Pondok Indah.

I got families flying back to Jakarta on 5th November. I can get some selection of salad dressing here in Brunei for you if you want.
