The luxury of a Bucket list

Yesterday night I had a big chat with my two Indonesian best girlfriends about "things to do in life". We ended up talking about that because they were saying they are not ready to get marry and have children, they still have too much things they want to learn, try, do. I brought into the discussion the idea of a Bucket list, things to do before to die. They found it pretty interesting.

My own list is full and getting longer, as I newly started it couple of months ago. Recent add : mud wrestling party, becoming part of a roller derby females ligue and learning burlesque strip-tease.

What about you folks?
Do you have such a list, things you absolutely want to do, realize, learn in your life?

And what about the principle itself, just another road to disillusions or a good way to keep focusing on your dreams?

- To join some institution which works seriously on pollution protection & remediation, to learn and to play a big part in the effort.
- To provide clean water & sanitation for the poor.
- To contribute in the policy making, and to make sure it's implemented well.
- To marry a very supportive and understanding gentleman who makes all these happen together, well, if not together, lets me do it freely.
- To learn, to be knowledgeable, and to have independent perspective on my religion, Islam. I never listened to Ustadz anymore now, too much personal perspective in their teachings. Hoping someday can learn from formal education sources like IAIN, Al Azhar (Islamic universities).

Sounds boring & too serious, does it? But that's my truly biggest dreams & a heritage I hope to left before I die. I have asked in the wastewater treatment mailing list whether I can join in as a chemist/engineer volunteer to do and to learn the things, but no response. I hope by taking master degree they will consider me seriously.

My less serious lists ;
- Learn to sing
- Travel to & explore less-traveled countries
- Learn to dance Javanese dance & teach it abroad
- Relearn & practice French & Mandarin
- Relearn violin & perform in Erwin Gutawa symphony orchestra.

I've made my list and it consist of 56 things I want to do/to have....
I will only write 10 of them...^_^
1. Have a wonderful husband and daughter
2. Get my master degree
3. Meet and interview Zinedine Zidane
4. Learn traditional Dance
5. Visit Louvre museum
6.Have my own library
7. Learn to speak French
8.Finish and publish my Novel
9. Have my "me " time
10. Have a cafe that sells traditional food and drinks like Bajigur, Bandreks, Surabi

Oh... my new wish Swim with Dolphins or watch them swim....

I am determined to make my list so long that I can never complete it and die. One thing that is not on it is learning about life after death. If God wants to take me he will have to fight with my wife first. She has me doing so many things that are healthy I might just live for ever :-) She calls it love.
