Thread: Teaching Jobs Whispers....

    Morning

I'm an teacher at an international school in Indo and often use a Uk teaching forum. A guy from one of the big Jakarta international schools recently mentioned they get literally hundereds of CV's sent to them. Many UK tecahers cannot find work at home and of coiurse many others like the thought of living in a foreign country. My point is that securing any kind of job in an International school is competitive, and it is well known that only on rare occasions will a school answer an email sent to them, even if it an application for a job. I've sometimes had skype interviews where I've not been contacted for 3 weeks afterwards, probably because they've got a better candidate lined up. When there is an excess of employees, the power is with the employer. It is not personal, and yes it is rude, but just the way it is. Th better schools will always conduct themselves in the correct manner.

While I don't doubt that the many international schools aren't inundated with CV's I'm very dubious as to whether he works for the school that he says. If you have followed his post over the last 6 months or so he's apperently been working in India, Singapore and now Indonesia....Something doesn't quite add up.

    Hi all,

    Great thread.

I currently teach mostly online however have a TEFYL and have completed the majority (uncompleted) teaching degree.

Do any schools like this consider such teachers?

    Many thanks.

What do you mean by a majority (uncompleted) teaching degree. Do you mean you don't have a teaching degree because you dropped out? Or are you in the process of completing the degree?

If you don't have a degree at all despite having the TEFL for young learners you won't get many takers. Not with the law being as it is at present.

My advise would be to get your teaching degree and some experience. Then many more doors will open up to you.

    hi King Willy...

seems exactly what you said...my Fiancee's IB school planned to have SPED Program but the plan would not take off from the drawing board as they seems would not admit the need or simply they havent done any cost analysis matrix for a profitable program to cater the marginalized kids with various special needs.
